Chicago in the summer is a superb place to visit.
It’s a very "walking" city, and this hotel is ideally placed to give a great base to do your vacation.
We had a concierge level room during our stay. The concierge lounge isn’t huge (and not nearly as large as some other hotels in the Marriott group), although it was pleasant and there was a good selection of nibbles and drinks.
The room itself was a very typical Marriott room. We had a great view over the city, but not of the lake.
The hotel is a very busy hotel. Its large, with many rooms and with lots of people who appear to stop for a single night, on business in Chicago, so by that, checking is very busy. Even the Marriott rewards only line is busy.
Location is fab. Right on Michigan avenue, with the bridges nearby and the Chicago tribune building close also.
Take a walk to the Sears Tower... it’s worth it. Don’t be fooled looking at it, and thinking its nearby, because it’s just so big, it looks nearby wherever you are in the city.
If the rooms were a bit larger and less generic, or if the concierge level was a bit more spacious it would easily be an 8/10... however it’s not, so 7/10... but a good 7.
