I just returned from Turkey. My husband and I lasted one night in the ova resort. The room we had was small carpet on the floor, which should never be when we woke in the morning. We were full of bites. When we went for breakfast, it was catered for the Turks, the hygiene is appalling so we went out.
We were talking to people in the hotel, if you can call it that, they told us to phone travel city who we had booked with in the UK, so we did and after hours of phone calls we moved. When I booked the holiday I booked for Olu Deniz and the ova resort is in Ovacik its about 6 miles from Olu Deniz.
Just like to warn people not to book the ova resort, its appalling we moved too the turquoise hotel which was a lot cleaner.

I really can't understand the...

Jun 2006, Miss K Suttill

I really can't understand the complaints fellow holiday makers have made about this hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, always cracking jokes and they made us feel really welcome.
The pool was one of the cleanest outdoor pools I’d ever seen and the water slide was a good bonus. As we went earlier on in the season we had little problems with sun loungers but I can imagine as the hotel fills up it would make it more difficult.
The food was healthy and varied, no one I knew all holiday encountered any food poisoning which can sometimes be mis-diagnosed by people eating foods they do not usually eat.
The room was kept clean and the bathroom was spotless. Had a couple of ants come in but we sorted that with insect repellant around the window cracks and the hotel staff did offer to move us to another room. The gardens which the hotel is set in are beautiful and make the place really fresh and different.
Entertainment on a night was fantastic, lots of tradition mixed in with some fun and games.
As for the guests it was pretty much half and half between Turks and Brits with a few Dutch families, all of whom were incredibly friendly which makes a nice atmosphere. As with all holidays abroad if you make an effort to speak the language and aren't so ignorant as to expect everyone to know English the Turks really appreciate a bit of lingo thrown in, I only learnt hello and thanks and it got me by just fine! (Phonetically, ishkula is thank you, ishkula kanka is thank you my friend and merhaba is hello).
Absolutely loved this holiday and my partner and I are most definitely returning next year!

Aug 2005, Miss K Starbrook

I returned from Turkey just 2 days ago with my friend and we are so depressed even looked to book again.
The hotel was fantastic, changed towels everyday, made bed and fresh flowers nice, small but at the end of the day you don’t go on holiday to sit in your room.
The food was nice, lots of choice and availability. Drinks were available all day, and as 1 review suggests the spirits were watered down I did a good job getting tipsy on them most nights.
The entertainment was fab, Ozzie, Carlos and Charlie did a brilliant job and Billy was always there snapping you so you could see what fools we made of ourselves. Fantastic. I miss them already they made our holiday.
Overall this holiday was the best I’ve been on and I will definitely return!!!

Aug 2005, Miss A Brack

We had a super time in this hotel!!! The room was a good size and cleaned regularly, with fresh flowers during the week.
The food was fresh, well prepared and varied with something special cooked on the open grill each evening; kebabs, pizza, fish etc. However it was mainly local cuisine which wouldn’t suit all.
The restaurant staff were very welcoming.
The reception staff were also brilliant and gave top service, even allowing us to watch their TV for the Turkish Grand Prix! I feel the attitude of the customer is sometimes reflected in the staff!!!!!
The evening entertainment was varied and great fun for all so long as you were prepared to join in and have a go. drinks plentiful and strong(!!!!) but cocktails were an additional cost.
Sunbeds were a problem and you did have to be up early to get a spot but the free shuttle bus to the Olu Deniz beach sorted this problem.
All in all great and would definitely go again! Some English are just born to complain!

My first and last holiday in Turkey....

Aug 2005, Miss T Smart

My first and last holiday in Turkey. The staff are rude do not smile just don’t like the English.
The food is the same every day. There are not enough sun beds so if you leave them to have lunch the staff take your towels off them and give the beds to the Turks. Because the hotel is for locals. The drinks got watered down the beer is awful. And all you have to drink is vodka gin or brandy but remember it is watered down, if you want a lager and lime you have to pay for the lime.
And if you want ketchup you have to pay for that too why your all inclusive. There is no entertainment in the hotel even though they say there is .........They need to change their name to horrible resort.

This was my best holiday up to now....

Jul 2005, Miss E J Baker

This was my best holiday up to now. I love Turkey, the food is outstanding and the local Turks are so nice and very friendly.
I thought the food was excellent, even though not as much choice the food was very tasty. The entertainment, what cant I say. It was excellent along with the entertainment staff Ozzie, Carlos and Charlie. I thought Ozzie made everyone feel welcome and put a smile on everyone’s face. I plan to go back next year for definite and hopefully see the lads again.
The drinks were well worth it, we cant expect everything on all inclusive to be perfect at least it was free. Its not to everyone’s taste but you need to know the country and the people to enjoy it. Hotel rooms were cleaned on a daily basis and very hygienic. Overall fantastic.

Food hygiene at this hotel is...

Jul 2005, Mr N Morgan

Food hygiene at this hotel is appalling, food is left uncovered and previous days food is used for next days meals disguised as something else. Used glasses at the bar are washed quickly under the tap then put back for public use, frightening! We had food poisoning here due to the lack of hygiene along with many other people, never been so ill in my life, hotel staff didn’t want to know. Not many British people here but a lot of Turkish, they are very arrogant and have no respect for us, we would never come here again.

Hotel was clean. the staff were exceptionally friendly and the food was enjoyable.
We went in June. Although there weren’t many of us British there in June we made some wonderful Turkish friends and were made to feel very welcome.
The grandchildren especially enjoyed the afternoon water polo match which was a battle fought to the bitter end with lots of fun and laugher.
We enjoyed this lovely little hotel so much (the entertainment manager Ossie still writes to us) that we went back in October and have booked again for this June.

May 2004, Mrs S Taylor

This was our first visit to Ovacik and our first impressions were "WOW" The scenery is astounding!!
The hotel was beautiful and very clean.
The staff were so friendly they couldn’t do enough for you, it was so hard to say goodbye..
The food was great but we found going at the beginning of the season was a little too quiet for us.
The hotel has it’s own private beach down in the Olu Deniz lagoon and it’s own private bus to take you.... Boy is that breath taking !!!!
We will definitely be going back to stay but maybe a little later in the year.
