I'm not particularly a fan of going abroad, I'm always cautious about whether or not the food will appeal to me or, what the people will be like and what the accomodation will be like. But I must admit everything was great. The food was delicious and offered a variety of snacks around midday whilst relaxing by the pool. The free shuttle bus to the beach was fantastic, saved us plenty of pennys. The staff were welcoming and friendly as were the people also staying at the hotel. The entertainment suited all ages :) The weather is splendid, just make sure you have plenty of sun cream. I made plenty of friends and a couple are still very good friends with my parents. It takes a while to get here from the airport but it was worth it as you got to relax and enjoy the environment on the way to and from the airport. Would recommend it to anyone.

We will return, again and again . . . . .

We have just returned from another fantastic holiday at the Ova Resort, Ovacik (and are returning at the end of June this year).
Hopefully, this will be one of the first reviews of the 2009 season and readers will find this useful.
We always book thru Travel Republic via the internet and they have never let us down so far, from transfer and flight, to accommodation and airport parking.
We very much recommend this site both for cost and ease/simplicity of booking .
We can't emphasise enough that "The Ova Resort" hotel represents superb value for money – but never think of this as a "budget" hotel. The Management's attention to detail from the Restaurant, to the beauty of the grounds and to the Entertainment Team to the efficiency of the Front Desk is FIRST CLASS . The hotel provides an on-site photographer who is a great chap and the new entertainment team are more than eager to please with optional pursuits and competitions such as Target Shooting, Pool, Table Tennis and Darts . Evening entertainment is also provided nightly and you will quickly meet new faces and know the staff by their names. Importantly though, if you want to be left alone to relax, these people will respect this also. The Pool is a decent size and the number of sunbeds has increased this year (in answer to comments of previous years that there were no enough to supply everybody). The waterslide is fun too – for the young and old !
The grounds are beautiful, with the numerous flowers already starting to bloom. The food is abundant throughout the day and as much as neighbouring Hisaronu has some great restaurants, you need not stray from the Hotel to feed yourself . The Kitchen Manager has a superb eye for detail and providing the hotel "has it", will endeavour to cook it for you. We have found that this Hotel attracts a supply of "all sorts", young and old, those wanting a quiet relax to those wanting to be taken to the local nightlife (which the Hotel will arrange at a very reasonable price - £5, there and back with the first drink thrown in). This hotel is a nice 15 min stroll (downhill) to the busy Hisaronu and everyone will tell you about the local Dolmus (bus) service that will stop at any part of the road to pick you up (very cheap too).
The same bus service with take you to Olu Deniz beach (10 mins) and the neighbouring town of Fethiye (10 mins) .
As you will appreciate, we cannot speak highly enough about this hotel and when you look at what you get for your money, you will certainly be on a winner by taking a holiday here .
See you in June,

I have been going to Ova Resort for the past 7 years and everytime I go there the staff and facilites are excellent. I dont know how people can say that the hotel is a disgrace. The area is amazing and the town is a 10 minute walk. They have excellent restaurants and bars in the town so if you didnt want to stay at the hotel for drinks and meals there is always the town.
I cant say anything horrible about the hotel. I have noticed a few of the staff changed last year, but to me that doesnt matter ITS THE PLACE TO BE!!!
SUN - SEA AND SAND
Im sad that Ozzie one the entertainment guys has left he was a lengend, going to miss him this year and cant wait to meet new staff.
September 2009 here we cum!!!!

Holiday Ruined
2 / 10
Oct 2008, libby.stirling@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

My husband and I arrived at the resort on Friday night. I did not class this as a hotel, more like self catering accomodation with a huge eating area. The beds and pillows were uncomfortable. My husband took ill on Sunday morning, spending the whole day in bed, had a temperature during the night and I called the doctor on Monday morning and he was admitted to hospital with acute gastroenteritis. I hasten to add that anything he had to eat or drink was at the hotel only. The inference by the Manager to my sister-in-law who also suffered at the hotel and did not seek medical help was that she must have eaten or drank somewhere else!!!
When I went to reception to ask for a doctor to be called I was informed that this would cost extra, when I asked the hotel staff to fax the medical report to our insurance company, I was promptly charged 5 lira.
The point I want to make is that the staff and the Thomas Cook rep, Mattie did not come to see how my husband was after he was discharged from hospital.
I called the Thomas Cook office at Fethiye and was informed that a Customer Relations Report form would be left for us at the airport to complete and that they were looking into a number of similar complaints. No form was left and Mattie was on airport duty and not at the hotel on the last day of our holiday.
On arriving home, I called the Thomas Cook customer service line and was advised to put my complaint in writing and they would look into it.
The majority of people had a good holiday but ours was ruined as we could not go anywhere or enjoy anything due to the extreme pain my husband was in and if this is due to the food and/or water at the hotel, I don't want any child or elderly person to suffer what my husband went through.
Had this situation been handled differently by the staff and the rep to take responsibility for the illness, I would not be posting this review in such a negative fashion.

Brilliant Holiday

Oct 2008, stemo

I just have to write and say my husband and myself was at the resort when a few of the guests became ill apparently through food poisioning but it was only a few of the guests that were affected not everyone and my husband and myself ate every meal at the hotel and my husband is quite a fussy eater but we always mangaged to find something to eat.Maybe they were just unlucky?.Anyway the hotel staff were brilliant Leo,Gino and Sergio the entertainment team worked so hard night and day. Also the bar staff and waiters they worked long hours yet always had a polite word and a smile for you.The hotel was basic but the views were fantastic. The photographer was great and we brought home with us some fantastic photos. Our room was cleaned daily with clean towels left every day. It was my birthday while we were there and one of the cleaners found out and left a rose on our bed for me what a lovely gesture. We cant find a bad word to say about the Ova Resort and we shall definately be going back next year. A big hello to everybody we met (Leanne,Danny,Kim,Ryan,Dave,Janice and Lynn, hubby?and friends? sorry cant remember all names)but looking forward to meeting up with some of you again at the hotel same time next year.

Oct 2008, do

I arrived at the resort on Saturday morning...thought everything seemed fine....room big enough....place seemed nice and relaxed....had lunch and dinner in resort and by sunday morning my brother was rushed to hospital with acute gastro enteritis.....by monday i myself also had this.....i later found out that 5 other people were hospitalised and many more lying ill in resort......spoke to the manager and he most unhelpful .....holiday rep was no where to be seen......it was definately FOOD POISONING.........this totally spoiled ourt holiday as we were both unwell for the rest of the holiday......dread to think what it would be like if there were small children with us..........the only reason i am writing the review is to stop people going to this resort and suffering the way we did. I have been to Turkey and this area before and really enjoyed the place and friendly people but would definately not go back to this Resort.

Fab time fab people, ignore the moaners, and enjoy

Oct 2008, lynne hardy

Well I put a review in before we went, got home last Sunday, and, too be perfectly honest, had such a fabulous time.
OK, the beds are a bit hard as are the pillows, but I slept well. The room was small and the bathroom was like a wet room you had to put the toilet seat down to get a shower, but it was spotless. The room was cleaned every day so no complaints there. Take note here, if you want a hot shower in the evening, you really need to be in it before 6pm or you wont get one, this is the only kind of complaint I will be making, cos having a luke warm/cold shower wasn't really too bad.
The food was really nice something different on the grill every night, the salad bar was one of the best i've seen, really really nice stuff on. Normally 2 other dishes to choose from, and OK it wasn't piping hot but go for an all you can eat Chinese, Indian, or a works canteen and it will be no different. They are catering for a lot of people and you can’t please everyone can you. My friend did hear someone moaning that it was the worst all inclusive they had ever been on, but this was the same girl who got a bit stroppy, when we got off the coach and couldn’t get past our cases. IMPATIENT or what!!!!, she didn’t get to her room any quicker for hoisting her case past me mumbling profanities. But you do get people who moan on about anything, and really don't try to enjoy themselves.
One of the reviewers said that it was too far out of town, but its only a 15 minute walk, (and I’m on the list for a hip replacement) not 25 as they said, and the dolmus' drive up and down the road non stop till about 1 am and cost buttons, so its no bother, if you want to stay in the town, then book for the town, not the next village, simple innit!!!
The drinks were definitely NOT! Watered down, you just don’t get the normal abroad measure, more like a normal pub measure.
The entertainment team were great, they don’t push you to do anything, just join in what you want to, we didn’t but that was our choice. There is a bit of noise around the pool area, but not banging loud, just normal music (the same every day) and asking for people to play water polo or darts or whatever, it was fun, and that’s normally what people go on holiday for?
The bar team were a cracking set of lads, so happy to help and they start work at about 7 in the morning and are there till midnight, and still so happy.
Overall nothing too much trouble, and very happy friendly staff, can’t fault the place, had a great time, met some great people, and would deffo recommend this place. Hi to the girls Bev, Tara and Lucy, and hi to Mo, sos honey can't remember your other half's name, but hi to him too.
Was going to load some photo's but can't be bothered right now, have a look on my facebook.
Enjoy!

My husband and I stayed in the Ova...

Oct 2008, Mrs  Leitch

My husband and I stayed in the Ova Resort at the end of Sept for two weeks. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the main resort, especially at night which meant that you had to get the Dolmus all the time.
On arrival we found we were allocated a ground floor room (where the terrace door could be opened from the outside) when in fact we had booked an upper floor. We requested a change of room which we were lucky to get.
Breakfasts and lunches were fine, although you did get a bit tired of the same things by the second week. We had dinner in the hotel a couple of times but there was not a lot of choice as regards hot dishes (chicken most of the time), plenty of salads, chips and rice, most of the time we ate out.
The all inclusive was great as regards drinks. Bar staff and entertainment staff were pleasant. The entertainment at night was not good unless you like a lot of noise. There was no separate bar at the hotel if you just wanted to have a quiet drink or three so you had to go out and walk for about 20 - 25 minutes downhill to Hisaronu (footpaths not good for walking) and then get the Dolmus back up.
The beds were terrible, you could feel every spring and even the hard board beneath.
I think if we were going to Turkey again we would try a five star and would definitely not go to the Ova again.

My review is 100% for the Ova Resort...

My review is 100% for the Ova Resort Hotel!
I am bemused & astounded at those who moan and wine about the slightest most insignificant picky points relating to this hotel which are completely untrue…unless all I can think of is that they got lost & ended up somewhere else or mistaken this hotel for another?
Our room was cleaned at 10am everyday along with our towels & linen changed. Our room was spacious with air con, a balcony and a brand new fitted bathroom as were our other girl friends rooms who we flew out with us.
The food was in my opinion great. I am a fussy eater but I had no room to be fussy because of the choice and variety throughout the day. Breakfast consisting of traditional Turkish foods, salad as well as cereals, cooked meats, fried food by chef. Lunch was again hot foods, snacks, salads as well as burger, chips, pizza etc… for those who miss there home pleasures! ;0) Dinner consisted of a variety of continental dishes as well as a BBQ grill (every night being different, fish, chicken, lamb, beef) and the desserts were gorgeous.
In the complex during the day you have the CHOICE to be by the main pool with music, activities and the entertainment team or the choice to be by the quiet pool which speaks for itself.
Night entertainment is fantastic with Leo, Gino and Sergio – again a variety, different shows each night; great after the evening meal to chill and relax with your drinks (which are not watered down, I can assure you!) before heading out later around 11.30pm or to bed (as it seems for some!)
We meet a great bunch of friends through this hotel and have remained in contact we all plan to return next year for a reunion in September 2009.

Sep 2008, Miss K Jones

After booking this holiday with Thomas cook [ known to be one of the leading tour operators]. We were very dis appointed with the recomendations given from the tour operatator. On arrival we thought we had turned up to a half finished complex. Throught out the whole holiday we had are towels changed once. The bedding was not done at all. Great hey. Dirty cups left in the rooms on the stairs and generally the over all cleanliness was something to be desired. The food was just a shambles. No variety always cold causing us to eat out every night. The bar is very small with not enough seating area to cater for all customers. All inclusive drinks are nothing to write home about. I would not recommend this to my worst enemy and will not be returning.

We booked our holiday through a...

Sep 2008, Miss J Ramsay

We booked our holiday through a webiste so were slightly worried about what it was going to be like.
Like most people we read the reviews and they are very mixed to say the least.
We flew out with Monarch, no onboard meals but we ate before so it didnt matter.
The trip to the Ova Hotel is slightly daunting, the roads are windy, and we must have had the maddest driver in the world he drove all over the place, but that does seem to be the way most people drive over there.
When we got to the hotel we were pleasantly surprised.
The reception staff were freindly and took our bags to our rooms.
The room was small and the bathroom was more like a wet room with the shower right by the toilet, but it was clean (rooms cleaned everyday) and we really didnt oay very much for our holiday so i was not expecting luxury, and who wants to saty in there room all day.
There is two pools, one is at the bottom of the resort and is the quiet pool.
The top pool is where they play sometimes quite loud music and have all the activties.
There were four great reps who kept everyone entertained with dancing, morning swimming aerobics, water polo and joined the kids (mainly grown men) on the water slide.
The drinks were fine, please dont oay attention to the people who moan bout these. The food was good, if you wait till one for lunch then there is more choice with salads and some meats.
The eveing entertainment was so funny. Leo, Tutu and gang were great and we didnt leave the resort in the evenings as we wanted to see what they had come up with.
This hotel is great. It is not 5 star so people who knock may need to go someone more expensive.
There was agreat mix if people, lots of the younf couples made friends and there was no intimadtion at all.
We will go back and would recmmend especially if those reps are there again.
