Booked up for a 3 night break with my...

Feb 2007, Mr IP Goodman

Booked up for a 3 night break with my girlfriend looking for a bit of sunshine and a nice break, everything was going fine until we arrived at the hotel.
Couldn't believe the condition of the place, the room was dirty, the beds were revolting, even the cockroaches stayed out of the room.
Went to the restaurant that night and the place was shocking, food was awful and cold and the waiter took our plates away even when we hadn't finished.
Went to the bar and ordered a glass of red wine and the barman served it up in a glass beaker, need I say more. Spent ten minutes listening to the entertainment and had to leave.
After one awful night spent in this place we packed our bags left and booked into a different 3 star hotel for the remaining two nights, it was the best two hundred pounds I've ever spent.
I’ve got to say I've never been to anywhere quite so bad in all my life and would warn anyone to NEVER step foot in this place.

Jan 2007, Miss S Black

Nine of us went to this terrible hotel. It was more like a 2*. You have to walk up about 7 lots of stairs with your cases as there are no lifts.
When I walked in the room I was shocked. The work tops in the kitchen were hanging off, it was really shabby and the bed was damp when you got in it. The bath panels were rusty, it was so basic it was unreal.
The food was ok and you are about 20 mins walk from the centre, not to mention the hill when you walk back.

Dec 2006, Mrs H Slack

After reading some disappointing reviews on this site, I was very anxious upon on our arrival. Yes, it is an old hotel, no, it is not that bad! How people can complain about the food, I will never know!
They must all be budding Gordon's or Nigella's at home, of course there is a 'canteen' style buffet, how else do you feed hundreds of people at the same time? The snacks at the poolside bar are just that, snacks, not four star catering. We found the staff reasonably friendly, just give them a smile and they will smile back, simple really. Our room was lovely, modern and clean. We stayed for a week and the maid came for four of those days. The young entertainment team do a great job, always something to do, its just up to you whether or not you join in.
The Sangria and Paella demo by the poolside bar was great fun, you even get to drink and eat the results. We booked this place basically because it was the cheapest all inclusive we could find, we think we got a bargain.

Just back from our honeymoon in...

Dec 2006, Mrs K L Little

Just back from our honeymoon in Tenerife. We stayed in the Caledonia Park Hotel and we absolutely loved it, didn't want to come home!
The room was spacious, very clean and well decorated, with a huge balcony which had a table and chairs. The room was kept clean by the maids, beds made everyday and clean towels given daily too.
The pool area was clean too and due to the time of year busy but not too busy. Queues at the pool bar went down very quickly and a good variety of snacks and drinks were available.
Pool water was freezing but soothing after lying in the sun for a while.
The rest of the hotel was clean and well maintained. Always a good variety of food and we always found something we liked. Yes there were chips all day every day but potatoes also came in other shapes and forms!
We spent every night in the hotel as the entertainment was good and the DJ's, Chris and Matt, were very friendly and provided us with lots of laughs.
The motorway next to the hotel did not disturb us in anyway, you can hear the noise from it but nothing major.
Only saw 2 or 3 cockroaches all week, loads of cats though! The cats are friendly but if you're like me and don't like them it can be a bit daunting. But by the end of the week I got used to them being there.
Lots to do in and around Las Americas and would definitely recommend going to see the animals at Loro Parque - whales and dolphin shows are excellent!
One slight drawback in this hotel is the staff (except the entertainment team!). If you speak to them they speak to you but can appear quite abrupt sometimes but I think this has a lot to do with the language barrier and the long hours they work rather than them just being rude.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone (except people with mobility problems due to the amount of stairs and the fact there is a steep hill to get to shops, pubs, etc.) and we plan to return next year.

Dec 2006, Mrs A Holden

Myself and 3 friends have just returned from a week of celebrating 2 40th birthdays. The hotel was clean but the food was a lot to be desired, not a lot of choice; not very hot and nothing at all for kids.
The entertainment was lot better than I have had on previous holidays, Matt and Chris need to move on and use their talents where they are appreciated, for 2 young guys they were fantastic and made everyone welcome and got everyone to join in, they even invited everyone to join them at their local pub after they were finished, which we all enjoyed.
I do not think I would go back to this hotel unless food had improved as I feel that was the only problem with it.

Dec 2006, Mrs D Bailey

We have just returned from a good weeks holiday at the Caledonia Park and we were not looking forward to going, however, we did not have any problems at all whilst we were there. The place was clean, food was varied, good and hot. We have been on many all inclusive in the Caribbean and some of the food there has not been so good (in 4* resorts). The staff were helpful and they treat you as you treat them! No problem.
We did find that the evening entertainment was a bit dire, however, there is another bar upstairs that is quieter with less kids!! We went with two friends that have been there 6 times! For the price we found it to be very good value for money, you get what you pay for! We hired a car whilst we were there and had a couple of trips out and also had a good couple of nights down in the town!
We will be returning.

Nov 2006, Mr D.C. Dick

The three meals a day were very good, with plenty of choice and always hot.
We must have got the best room in the hotel. It was clean, spacious , and had a large balcony looking over the sea.
The Bar service was excelent with jolly staff and a vast range of drinks in very large measures.
How anyone can complain at all this for a cost of about £30 per day is beyond me.
In a British hotel it would not buy you a seat let alone a bed.

Have just arrived back from holiday...
1 / 10
Oct 2006, Mrs K Riley

Have just arrived back from holiday from hell. Went to this hotel knowing it was a 3 star. When we got there and was shown our accommodation we were disgusted at the state of it, it was like the black hole of Calcutta. If anybody has booked this holiday please change it if possible even if you lose some money as it will spoil your time there.
It is the first time we have been on holiday and never unpacked our cases for the duration. It is also supposed to be all inc. but we have. been on two other all inc. and this was by no means what we would class all inc. there were restrictions on drinking times, drinks were supposed to be on till twelve, but stopped at 11pm, snacks were the most dire we had ever seen white chips rotten hot dogs and left over cakes. You had to queue and ask if you wanted these. As it was this is some thing we weren't interested in but others were.
The small cafe were you got these snacks from was disgusting and stinking to put it mildly it turned your stomach. But surprisingly the main meals were quite good and varied. I felt that the entertainment was very poor on the night time very unprofessional, but realised all the chavs that were there enjoyed it.
I feel this hotel should not be advertised for couples as really it is for young families and young groups of boys and girls on holiday just for a good drink while we were there other couples were able to transfer to other hotels but never managed to get to see our rep yet from med hotels as according to sunset rep in all the time he had been going to that hotel he had never see anybody visiting. So I will never ever use med hotels again to book a room anywhere abroad again, which is shame as we go away 3 to 4 times a year.
This was the first time I had booked for abroad over the internet as I have only had computer a few months but went to Dublin a few weeks ago with no problem. All in all if anybody is going to Caledonia Park please read reviews and take heed I wish we had.

I found my stay at Caledonia park ok!...
5 / 10
Sep 2006, Miss S Robinson

I found my stay at Caledonia park ok! when me and my partner first arrived at the hotel we was just given a key and showed to our room and we was shocked when we opened the door, the apartment wasn’t what we had expected- the bathroom was dirty and rusty, it was disgusting and we didn’t get used to it all week!
There were 2 single beds put together in the bedroom which were falling to pieces and taped up so we had to pull the sofas together in the living room to sleep on (which was much more comfortable) we never used the kitchen as there was one cup a fork and 2 glasses in it so there was no way we could have used the kitchen even if we wanted to!
We weren’t in the main bulk of apartments and we could see there were better apartments than ours. We did see quite a few cockroaches around the hotel, around the entertainment area and quite a few times on the outside steps up to our apartment but only the one in our room (which is still one to many).
The food was ok and not as bad as other people have made it out to be. There was a good variety each day and I didn’t see the same food there twice in the week we stayed, the breakfast is lovely and the hot chocolate is gorgeous!.
Staff were quite friendly during our stay although I can see how people would see them as unfriendly and ignorant as they aren't very talkative and often don’t have a smile on their face! The people at the reception I found quite unfriendly as we had asked for our phone to be switched on in our room on several occasions over a period of 3 days and it was never switched on, our Spanish isn’t perfect and their English definitely wasn’t perfect (which wasn’t really expected) but on a number of occasions when we was asking for help from the receptionist we was pushed aside rather rudely when a fluent Spanish speaking guest or staff would approach the desk!
The entertainment we thought was great!! The dj's matt and Chris was very good and by the end of the week we had become addicted to bingo! lol :S, the entertainment would start around 8 o'clock and would start with a quiz then on to the kids mini disco then onto to bingo (the prize money was above 400 euros every night!) and then each night at 10pm there would be a different form of entertainment all were good!
The location of the hotel is also great, with the water park literally across the road from the entrance, a short walk down the hill are loads of bars and shop's which we often visited and all the shop's were open till 10:30pm which was great! The local people are lovely and extremely friendly! (Although sometimes they were a bit over friendly and wouldn’t leave tourists alone) and all spoke excellent English. I would definitely recommend a visit to loro park as the dolphin and whales were fabulous (especially the dolphins!!!)
Over all our stay at the hotel was ok! The negative aspects of the stay (e.g. the room) would outweigh the positives at times but I could also say at times the positives (e.g. the location, entertainment) would outweigh the negatives as well! I don’t think we would ever go back to Caledonia park but our experience of Tenerife and las americas/ costa adeje was brilliant and I would recommend going to this area of Tenerife as I know I will be going back!

Just back from this hotel, and I’d...

Sep 2006, Miss T L Wood

Just back from this hotel, and I’d like to say after hearing all the bad reports I was frightened to death to go.
Well there was really no need, I went with my son and daughter and my daughters friend for two weeks which we all enjoyed.
The food was varied at every sitting and very good - No complaints. The room was very clean and well kept clean towels and sheets every day - No complaints. The staff were friendly and very helpful, just treat them how you'd wish to be treated yourself – easy. The pool area was clean and well maintained, a little slippy at times but there were signs stating don’t run etc.
Cockroaches - we never saw one in our room, the odd one or two outside which we just stomped on but not a problem. The entertainment team Matt and Chris and erm Craig...were very comical ..great entertainers... they provided lots of entertainment through the day for the kids...and the activities were always announced...nigh time entertainment was also very good ...a different show on every night..
This hotel is undergoing modernisation, our rooms were completed and may I add, very comfortable. There is lots to do in and around Tenerife. We went all over the place on lots of excursions. The beach is lovely and just at the bottom of the hill there’s a beautiful walk down to it.
To the right of this beach is a lovely walk round to another which on an evening is really lovely. Here you will find the water activities and pedalos, oh and a Macdonalds and Burger King ...the aqua park is right next door to the Caledonia Park.
I’m not going to rattle on and on, overall we had a fab holiday and the hotel we thought was very nice - No complaints what so ever.
I feel some people are just born grumblers ....your holiday is what YOU make it...

We have just returned from this hotel...
2 / 10
Sep 2006, Mr S J Hollier

We have just returned from this hotel and as first impressions go you just want to walk straight back out again.
It has a very unclean feel about it and the rooms are ok but the bathrooms are old and very dirty.
The people that were there are all friendly and your kids can run around without you worrying every 5 minutes where they are etc.
It just seems to be running down whether they are looking for a buyer I don’t know!
There are dirty stained steps, cockroaches, holes in the reception settees and paint chipped walls etc.
The drink policy is very unfair if I want 4 then give me 4 as I’m in a family of 4.
I would never stay here again but my kids loved it as they do not notice what adults see.
The food is ok and there is plenty of it but it's the same thing day after day but I had no real issue with the food or staff.
If you get what you pay for then I will pay much more next time and go for something much higher standard.

PORK, PORK, PORK, I am sick of eating...

Sep 2006, Mr S Meek

PORK, PORK, PORK, I am sick of eating pork!
Entertainment was beyond a joke, even the karaoke singers were better than the supposed acts!
Our room was a tip, fallen to pieces and only had our rooms cleaned 5 times in 2 weeks, some days we didn’t even get clean towels!
To be honest it wouldn’t have hurt for the waiters to smile just once during my stay there, and then they had the nerve to shake the tip box , AS IF !!!!!!
Other than that the weather was spot on.
