I have just returned from a holiday in Goa we stayed for one week in Williams Beach Resort, when I arrived I didn't think the room looked great but it was clean and basic and the pool looked good, after the first night we were offered a better room again this was basic but much nicer opposite the pool and with a balcony on the ground floor. It turned out to be a good week, the pool was lovely nice size and temperature and clean, the rooms were cleaned daily and the room boys were very nice, breakfast was basic continental but service was quick and the waiters were nice especially John, the restaurant was nice and very inexpensive also there was a good bar again inexpensive. The hotel is near to all the restaurants and shops and the beach is only a short walk away. All the staff from the Manager down were pleasant and we shall definitely return to this hotel when we visit Goa again.

We had booked the holiday through Monster travel. Once we had squeezed ourselves into the tinny seats on the Monarch flight from gatwick(we will try to avoid Monarch in the future as the seats are ideal for children but not for fully grown adults), after 10 hours we where help out of these seats and stepped foot in Goa for the first time. There is a very good taxi service from the airport to the resort,in our case Colva which cost around 350rs.
We reached the Williams beach resort around 30mins later and were showed to our room on the second level around the pool, by the very helpfull staff. We opened the door and was shocked by the basic room. A bed, table and 2 plastic patio chairs oh and a ceiling fan(no a/c). the rooms are cleaned every day and we where supplied with fresh towels and linen, the pool is also clean every morning
If all you want is a base as we did then it is ok. The staff make the hotel. They canot do enough for their guests and are always on hand to help. The food is good and the breakfast is enought to start the day, Tea/coffee, friut juice and toast served by a very freindly chap called John.
Ask the taxi drivers for Trips as they are the best informed. Our best trips where Betty's boat and the Dudhsagar waterfalls, visiting the spice platation on the way back.
