I wondered if we ended up at another hotel after reading reviews here. There were no entertainment daytime at pool, it was were quiet. At night they had about 1/2 hour in the disco, some days good some days very poor. So my children were disappointed after I have told them about what I had read here. The cleaning were the worst in the room. Sure they made the beds and gave us clean towels everyday but never cleaned tables from breadcrumbs if we missed some or gave us new soap during the hole week. We even had a cockroach in the room so my daughter screamed ;-) We couldn´t complain over the view from balcony, that was perfect and the short walk to beach where we went every day. We ate once at the hotel but wasn´t very happy, the service were bad and that weren´t so much food as we were told before. I´m not sure they know completely what gluten-free was becouse they said we couldn´t eat any desserted, but I´m sure we could.....
Fantasic hotel
from Drew_2000
This was the first hotel that we had vistied where the tour operator allocated our hotel on arrival. We were extremely surpised to be allocated this fantastic hotel. The hotel had only recently been completed and everything in our room was brand new. Everything was clean and the room very spacious. The beds were a little uncomfortable, but not so much that you weren't able to get some sleep on them and feel rested in the morning and what a view to wake up to. The sea was easily visable from our room and we spent many nights out on the patio sized balcony enjoying it. The pool area was clean and getting a sunbed was never a problem. The bar area was very near the pool and was very handy for the poolside drink. A few restaurants framed the sheltered beach and these were not busy when we visited. For night-life Porto Rico is short taxi ride away or a nice 30 minute walk across the costal cliff path which ended just outside of the hotel. Would definatly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to get away from it all for a weeks break.

very nice

i found this hotel to be very pleasant and well presented, the rooms were nice and all have sea view, you do have to go up and down lots of stairs or lifts though as the rooms are on mulitple levels, which is a little confusing. we only had breakfast here a couple of times but the food was nice and was all you can eat and drink once you pay your fee. we went to puerto rico each night for food there are lots to choose from, dolce vita which is italian on amadores beach is very nice we went there 3 times in total. i thought that the hotel was actually very quiet and was a little dispointed that the entertainment stopped at 12 as we always got back to the hotel around 11.30 after eating out in puerto rico. people would put towels out early mornings saving the sunbeds by the pool but you could easily get a bed even if you turned up late afternoon. i enjoyed playing bingo everyday by the pool and it was nice to have music playing to keep you a litte entertained while tanning off!! the hotel was just a little too far from puerto rico for my liking as i prefer a more active holiday. but it was very clean nice and friendly apart from a silly bald headed guy who runs the restaraunt and bar he was very rude and very annoying didnt liste to a word you said to him even though he clearly could understand and spoke very good elnglish. sorry to say wont be going back to gran canaria as i found it very expensive and not much different to most holidays in europe will be travelling further afield next time to somewhere a little more exotic. defo reccomend the hotel though!!!!
brilliant

My boyfirend and I have just returned from a fortnight in amadores and it was absolutely superb. The apartments were basic but absolutely spotless, the cleaners were brilliant, washed the floors every day and as mentioned in other reviews, washed dishes etc, they deserve a pat on the back. Amadores was the best of both worlds, it was a picture, the beach was georgeous and if you wanted a quiet bite to eat it was the place to be, although if you were looking for something more lively you could walk into puerto rico, which was a 15 minute walk with lovely sea views or get a taxi for 3 euros (£2). The resort was really clean and the man made beach was one of the best beaches we have ever visited. It had a few shops and restaurants, enough to serve their purpose. We found a nice wee place called the "irish Cottage" which was on the sea front and had lunch in it evey day, we would highly recommend the food, from toasties to main meals. The other restaurants were nice also (especially if you like italian food). The food prices were really reasonable and we found a nice place looking out to the sea in puerto rico, its was called "bahia playa", you can't miss it at the far away harbour with red lights on the outside. Good food, good service (highly recommend the breaded chicken breast with gravy!) All in all a fabulous holiday, we're going on the net to check prices for January!!
Clean, family friendly but loud!

My boyfriend and I, both 26yo, got a last minute deal to this hotel at the beginning of September. For a last minute deal, and compared with previous last minute hols I have booked, it was by far the best bargain i've ever got! GOOD BITS: The apartment was lovely - very accurate website description. The self catering facilities were great (compared to previous experiences in SC accommodation where they were unrealistic and unusable!) with ample crockery etc and the apartment was meticulously cleaned almost every day with new towels and bedding provided. It was one of the cleanest apartments I have stayed in. The view from the hotel rooms (each of which has a large balcony with table and chairs) is terrific as it is built into the hillside and looks over the beach and bars and restaurants which are only several minutes walk from the hotel! The food in all the local bars and restaurants is terrific too, as is the service. I would highly reccommend walking along the shore walk to the larger resort of puerto rico. It's a beautiful, short walk and puerto rico has lots to offer with its lovely harbour and active night life of bars and restaurants. Maspalomas offers an amazing, not-to-be-missed beach with outstanding dunes. We hired a car for only 30euros for the day with air conditioning. Bliss!! Saw loads of other towns and tried more traditional Spanish cuisine. Before we went we read that it was a 'salt water pool' rather than chlorine to be environmentally friendly. I was really dubious about this but it was grand!! You'd never even notice!!! The pool is always very clean too. For young families, this hotel is great as there is entertainment organised for the kids all day until midnight - frequent bingo, kareoke, mini golf competitions, pool competitions, singers/impersonators at night. THE NOT SO GREAT BITS: However, if you're looking to chill out, the loud speaker system doing the bingo and music in the hotel every night until late can get really tiring! There are a lot of young kids, which is understandable given the array of entertainment on offer, but I think we would have appreciated being told it was such a family-orientated hotel with loud evening entertainment in advance so i'm advising you now!! Although we did not try the hotel food, we did check it out a few nights but decided against it. Its a buffet style so maybe great and easy if you have kids but it just didn't look overly appetising to us!! CONCLUSION!! We had a fantastic time, a great hol. The sea and the pool were both clean and perfect for cooling off. The locals are wonderful, friendly people, always happy to help. There is plenty to do here for families/couples and, although i try never to go to the same resort/country twice, I certainly would go back to Gran Canaria but would probably just go for a more quiet hotel - but it all depends on what you're after and what you make of it!! We are 26 and wanted a chill out but we were able to enjoy it by going out in the evening to the local bars and restaurants. All in all, it was fun and the weather was absolutely perfect the entire week. The hotel is large with plenty to do and it is clean. You will definitely have fun at this hotel, whatever age, and there are no serious issues with it at all. I would reccommend it to families.
Excellent Hotel

We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at the Mirador Atlantico. We were looking for somewhere relaxing with a bit of sun and this turned out to be exactly what we wanted. We booked last minute through Direct Holidays and arrived late on Saturday night. The check in procedure went without a hitch and the room was absolutely fine. The room had a balcony got the sun in the evening and had a stunning view over Amadores beach into the sunset. Amadores is really just a few hotels and a beach over the hill from Puerto Rico. This part of Gran Canaria is extremely hilly but, unlike many of the other hotels, the Mirador Atlantico is an easy 10 minute walk from the beach. The beach itself has a good selection of restaurants and we did not find it necessary to go into Puerto Rico to eat. The one slightly disapointing aspect of the hotel was the restaurant. Possibly use it once, but really you want to go down to the beach, the food is much better. The hotel has a good pool and reasonable entertainment facilities; mostly not too intrusive. An excelent location and a good 4 star (for Europe) hotel makes this an excellent choice.

Went to this hotel back in 2005 but have only just got round to writing a review about my stay! We flew from the UK at about 10pm so we knew that by the time we got to the hotel it would be sunrise. Everything went smoothly so any fears I had were soon dispersed. The coach was packed but luckily our hotel was second for the drop offs. when we got to reception we were greeted by a gentleman at reception who gave us a map of where our room was which was on the third floor. The room was very clean and the lift and walk through the corridor was not bad at all and had security lights which switched off automatically but there were loads of switches around. the room which we had was right above the blue table tennis table and was perfect we had a great view of the beach and sea and it was perfect to watch the evening shows from our room if we didn't want to venture down to the pool area. the beach is really nice very clean and the sand was soft apparently a man made beach with the sand coming from the Caribbean! there are the usual beach side cafes and a few restaurants which we found very pleasent. on the left side of the beach there is a path which leads all the way into Peurto Rico which is a lot busier than Amadores we often took this stroll I would say it was about 25 minutes but is very safe even at night time. we found a restaurant here just as you enter by the mariner which served the best tender steak and deserts and was well worth the extra few euros we ended up coming to this restaurant many times and it was always busy. we did eat at the hotel on a few occasions and this was nice too. the highlight of the holiday has to be our very nice room, the entertainment that was provided for adults as well as children's clubs and the friendliness of people we met. if he is still around I recommend staying at the hotel and watch Toni Starr who is Gran canaria's number 1 Elvis tribute act. We watched him 4 times at the hotel stage and he was very entertaining! We would got back to Gran Canaria and to Mirador if we could have the same room

great hotel very friendly and the entertainment girls Becky and Leanne keep you entertained all day without being pushy. The hotel is about a five minute walk from Amadores beach which is the nicest beach on the island,it gets a bit quiet there at night but puerto rico is a 20 min walk away along a costal path or about 3 euro in a taxi.We enjoyed our stay at the amadores and will be returning soon.
just returned from a weeks holiday at the mirador.went as a group of 8 girls (even tho this is a family hotel),and have to say what a gr8 time we had.we had a 2 bed and 1 bed apartment spilt btween us and we found them to be spacious and really clean.had a lovely view from... more
