" Great time in a Great Place "

Recently returned from a great holiday, made even better by our stay at Mirador Del Atlantico. This was our fourth visit in a row to Puerto Rico, having stayed in different but similar accommodation each time but this was the best place we have stayed by far.
The double apartments are plenty large enough for a family of four with good facilities and were cleaned to a very high standard, with cleaning carried out every day except Sunday. Bedding was replaced 4 times during our fortnight stay with clean towels every other day. Facilities were excellent, with the shop in the complex being very reasonably priced. There is also the SPAR supermarket about 50 yards up the road for anything you struggle to get at the hotel. We used the gymnasium facilities a couple of times and the Sauna on most days, all of which were spotless once again. The pool and pool bar area were excellent with an abundance of sunbeds and umbrellas, something that we have had issues with at other accommodation. The pool was cleaned daily and they use salt in the water so it is easy on the eyes. Prices at the bar were also reasonable, with a large beer costing 2.5 euros. There were also a good selection of snacks available.
Every afternoon, a full programme of entertainment was provided. This included something for all ages, with water polo proving to be exceptionally popular during our visit. Ricky, the main entertainer during our visit, was very approachable and worked really hard to ensure that everyone had a great time.
We used the restaurant on several occasions for breakfast, which was plentiful with a massive selection which could not fail to suit all tastes. The dining area was very clean and the food well cooked. There was also several options by which you could buy your food cheaper than the advertised rate. We chose to buy a voucher which was available for a minimum of 3 days.
All staff that we dealt with during our stay were very professional and friendly, special mention going to Reyes whose skill with a cocktail shaker as 'Mrs Shaky Shaky' were legendary!
All in all, a fantastic two weeks made even better by a great place with great facilities. I hope to have the opportunity to stay there again in the future.

Advice: Fantastic beach 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Activities: I would highly recommend Restaurante San Miguel in Puerto Rico shopping centre.

" Another great Holiday at the Mirador "

Well we have just returned from the Mirador for the second year running and I have got to say we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
It was very relaxing and the food is excellent as they have a range of different cuisines, and it's buffet style style too so there's plenty of choice, if you don't stay in the hotel for the food there are lots of lovely restaurants to choice from on the beach, one that we used a few times and was very pleased with was the Irish cottage the food is tasty and the staff are friendly and very pleasant.
The entertainment.....Well what can I say about the entertainment, We really enjoyed that every night Jonathan & Ricky (the entertainers) always do something with the kids wether its a disco or karaoke but he keeps them entertained then on comes the show for all the family (magicians, dancers, bird shows, reptiles shows and a few more), and during the day there is lots & lots to keep the kids happy and then there's the happy hour with bingo too.
The hotel has made changes too with price cuts on the meals and drinks compared to last year so all in all another excellent holiday and I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it can either be lively if you visit Puerto Rico or nice and relaxed and chilled to stay round the pool at the hotel or even visit the Amadores beach
A BIG Thank You to all the hotel staff and all the Entertainment staff you made our holiday Brilliant
xx

Advice: Not good for elderly with walking difficulties as its a hill from the beach to hotel

" We are a family of 4, (2 adults &... "

We are a family of 4, (2 adults & 2 teenagers aged 15 & 12) and stayed at the Mirador for 2 weeks and had a lovely time. We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was very clean and had lovely views overlooking the sea. we were a bit concerned when we arrived as we were right next to the entertainment but it turned out to be fine as entertainment finished at midnight. I would say that cooking facilities aren't great as only a 2 ring hob but then that didnt bother me as i dont cook on holiday anyway. I have to say its the first place i have been where you have to pay for watching TV. The entertainment in the day time was good with Jonathan and Ricky doing all sorts of things from crazy golf to archery, killer pool, bingo etc. I thought they were great with the kids. I didnt see much of my children during the day as they joined in so it was nice to chill!! The entertainment was not brilliant in the evenings and never busy but then this may have been due to bar prices so not much atmosphere, although i have to say we had fun with Mrs Baron with her family and friends with their children entertaining us and we will miss them. I have to agree that bar prices were ridiculous and we didnt buy many at the bar. We only bought drinks at happy hour but the cokes etc were cheaper to buy from the shop on site or at the spar. I also agree that if you have a problem its sorted straight away. My husband saw some metal sticking out of the ground and once reported it was done straight away. Nice places to eat were zenubia and Anexo and also Oscars in Puerto Rico if you want something a bit nicer but more expensive. I would say that it wasnt cheap over there but Amadores was lovely and quiet and i would return there with my family. I would also say that i wouldnt book trips with the reps again as they were a lot of money for what you get as you can do them cheaper yourselves. Good luck Ricky with the Karate!!

" We travelled to the Mirador as a... "

We travelled to the Mirador as a family of 5 and on arrival we were given instructions to find our room, however the complex is laid out in blocks and on different levels, which can be very confusing, especially if you arrived at night, as the lights on the corridors are on timers and it can be quite creepy walking back to your room at night.
Also air conditioning is not included in the price and is expensive and even more for a 2 bed apt, also the tv is pay as you go, although the overall holiday was a reasonable price their are alot of added extras. The prices at the pool bar are extortinate and everyone was complaining about that but we soon wised up and took our own drinks which was even better than happy hour prices! There are 2 happy hours a day and bingo, archery, killer pool, water polo and kids club, lots to keep you going.
One thing I have to big up is Ricky aka Dobbie, he is the best, he has not been there that long as he assists his brother Jonathan. We had such a laugh with him, taking over at times especially my 17 year old daughter who I think thought she was his assistant (poor singing of I have had the time of my life Ricky)Sorry but we all can't be perfect!
The 3 restaurants I would recommend are : Ciao Ciao (free tshirts) Zenubia and The London Pride.Overall to summarise Amadores is a clean family orientated place, quiet, low key and has a beautiful beach and a good coastal path to Puerto Rico.
Ricky you were a star & the kids loved you.We also met some lovely people and had a great holiday, apart from my hubby moaning all the time that 2 weeks was too long to sit in a quarry and was constantly going on about the bolders which looked like they were going to fall at any time!Think we will leave him at home next time.
I would also like to say I think the rating of these apartments should be 3 star as shown at the place itself as opposed to 4 star as shown in the brochure. Also the bech in the brochure is shown just below the apartments but there are a few roads inbetween wee thats Thomas Crooks for you!

" We had booked a 2 bed room and were a... "

We had booked a 2 bed room and were a little worried about previous comments about the noise problems at night. However, it wasn't as bad as I feared - we were in B block on the ground floor, but we felt we had to pay extra for the air con because the twin room that my two daughters shared only had french windows which I didn't feel comfortable keeping open all night. So being able to keep the doors and windows closed made it quieter. The air con was lovely though to come back to cool off after a day out in the heat - definately worth the money. The room was cleaned nearly everyday and we got plenty of towels. The only criticism was the cooking facilties in the kitchen were not very good. There were only two rings on the hob and they gave us a large frying pan and a large saucepan which you could not use both at the same time. The microwave was useful.
The hotel service was brilliant - when our shower broke they sent the maintenance guy round immediately to fix it - no problem.
We didn't bother booking anything with the reps, we went to zoo by bus which we caught at Peurto Rico which is a fraction of the cost they charge. You can get tickets at reception. We also made our own way to the Mogan Market - we went there by bus and caught the ferry back.
We had the same problems with the sun loungers - very annoying!!
We went to the beach a few times, but were a bit put off as one day the water had a lime green foam film floating on the top.
We ate out a few times but didn't find anywhere special that we would have wanted to go back to again.
There was entertainment every night for those who wanted to watch. We enjoyed the juggling act and the blues brothers were funny.
Amadores is a lovely resort, much quieter than Puerto Rico, but if you want the more hectic night life, it is only a cheap taxi ride away.
We had two weeks of glorious sunshine - something you just can't rely on in England!!

" We have just had our 3 year in a row... "

We have just had our 3 year in a row at the Mirador and it is as good now as it was 3 years ago. Many of the staff have been working there every year and remember us as well, genuinely. The staff are always friendly and respond quickly to any requests, beit maintenance or a general enquiry. Fran and Reyes (especially the flashing glasses) who work the pool bar are absolutely brilliant. Our son is now 13 and has enjoyed his holidays every year and never complained about going back.

The rooms are of a very good quality and the cleaning standards are of a very high standard, many hotels in our country could take note! The chambers maids are also very friendly.

The pool and pool area are spotless and cleaned every day. I agree there are people waiting from about 8.45 onwards to reserve sunbeads, but heaven forbid they do before the pool man has finished cleaning the terrace, some people find him miserable, but at the end of the day his is making the area clean and safe them and their children. If people could actually read it might make a difference, especially those who complain about the pool not being open at 8.30 when it clearly states on all the posters 9.30.

The entertainment is of a good standard, with Jonathan and his brother Rikki, very good replacements for Becky who had been the entertainer for the previous 2 years. The hypnotist show is bar far the best, try to get back for it.

We have only used the hotel restaurant once in 3 years, that says it all. The restaurants around the beach are fantastic, our favourites being The Portofino (try the sea bass, filleted at the table), Zenubia (try paella) and The Anexo (the fresh fish), with Isobel at The Portofino being brilliant with children.

Bianca the Airtours rep was very helpful and always punctual with her visits.

" Spent 2 weeks at Mirador at end of... "

Spent 2 weeks at Mirador at end of August and really enjoyed it. This was our 3rd holiday abroad with kids (ages 4 and 6) and definitely the best. We did not feel the need to leave the resort for the first 5 days and lounged by the pool during the day and went to the beach for dinner each night. (Porto Fino restaurant very friendly and lovely food - also the most reasonable). Peurto Rico only a few minutes in taxi and enjoyed strolling around the shops there. We went to Sioux City and had a great night - also went to the water park in Peurto Rico which was sufficient for our age kids but maybe Maspalomas would be better for older kids?? The other trip we took was to see dolphins and then onto Mogan to shop around the market - not over exciting!
I would definitely recommend the Mirador for its cleanliness and friendly/helpful staff. We had a 2 bed apartment and air-con cost 100 euro for the 2 weeks. We needed it but I know others there that didn't bother. It was a fantastic place for the kids as they met up with lots of kids their age and therefore didn't hang out of us so much - I even got to read a book by the pool! Entertainment is just wonderful - from 12 -5 there is something to do between kids club, water polo and bingo... Then at 9 the evening entertainment starts. Jonathan and his brother Ricky were fab - the kids loved them. I do not know where they get their energy and enthusiasm from but keep it up guys!!
Bianca, the Panorama/Thomas Cook rep was great - so friendly and approachable. People have complained about the loungers being snapped up early morning but we always got 2 after 10 a.m. and even later. You may not get an umbrella after that though. I never saw anyone having to lie on the ground as was suggested in another review.
All in all the holiday was a great success and would definitely go back.

" My family and I (ages ranging from 18... "

My family and I (ages ranging from 18 months to 72 years) have just returned from our first visit to this resort but I am sure it will not be our last. The hotel was more than we had expected - extremely clean and apartments were very spacious. We found all staff (especially our chambermaid ) to be very pleasant. Downside was the people who insisted on being round the pool at daybreak to place their towels on the sunbeds regardless of notices asking people not to do so. However, this was no problem as we used the beach several times and our second week was not so busy so getting sun beds round the pool was less of a problem.

Jonathan was brilliant for the kids with his brother Ricky. The younger members of our family loved the water polo and the happy hours.

Eating out was no problem as the restaurant at the beach were all good. We used the Paradaiso some lunchtimes (the last one to the right looking our to sea) and most evenings used the Italian Restaurant a few doors away (not Ciou Cious - we tried it once and found it to be more expensive.

My husband and I will definately return again next year but perhaps not until September when perhaps it will be quieter.

Returned yesterday from a week at the Mirador. Was absolutely brilliant, kids loved it + there was always something to do. Food was delicious, will need a diet now! Weather was excellent, hot + sunny every day. The hotel is very clean, room cleaned +clean towels every day. The staff were lovely too, Reyes in the restaurant was such a nice person + always made you feel welcome + Jonathan (kids entertainer) kept all the kids amused for hours! Played bingo round the pool every afternoon while lying on the sunlounger with a cool drink, Bliss! The location is quite central too, only 5 mins from beach and just a few minutes drive from Puerto Rico. I booked this holiday last minute + i am so glad I did, it was fantastic + the nicest place I have ever stayed. Overall, a good time had by all + I would love to return there next year for two weeks

" To set the scene I am a mum of 2... "

To set the scene I am a mum of 2 taking my kids away on my own. I was a little worried about taking them but needn't have worried at all.

Everywhere is really expensive so make sure you take a lot of Euros with you. I spent about E800 in a week!!

We stayed in a 1 bedroom appartment in B block room B311 which is as far as you can go along the complex and the furthest away from everything. I've seen some reports of the entertainment being too loud at night but this wasnt a problem for me.

The appartments themselves are pretty standard. 2 Single beds and a put me up bed in the lounge area. Be prepared to pay E40 for air conditioning (worth it!) and E20 deposit for the controller (which you get back). My son suffers from nocturnal epilepsy so i had to get it but think i would have anyway even if he wasnt with me. Gets very warm in those rooms as the face the sun.

If you get the chance to go self catering then do this rather than half board. I went self catering so didnt matter if we got up late and could eat when ever we liked instead of being restricted. There are some great places on the beach to eat and everyone speak english really well. The Irish Cottage does a lovely breakfast!

The buffet at the hotel was ok. Not amazing and pretty standard but they do some great offers like Buy One Get One Free and Kids Go Free etc to entice you in. The chinese one was quite nice and the sunday roast was really good but the mexican leave a bit to be desired.

The pool is great. They use salt consentrate to clean it instead of chlorine and it is maintained every morning. The problem with sun loungers was apparent from day one but being on my own wasnt such a problem for me. There are enough sun loungers to go round if you don't want to be down there before 9 to reserve your spot. It was just that people seemed to sit in the same places every day... I can appreciate this as wanted to watch my kids like a hawk! There is a baby pool and a little spa pool too as well as the large pool... beware the tiles are coming off the bottom and it gets really deep at some points. Shallowest point is close to the stage and the deepest point near the spa and near the bar.

The staff are lovely. Fran at the pool bar was great. Remembered my drinks every time so i didnt even have to ask. Food at the pool bar also good. Big portions. The ice they use in the drinks all comes from bags so ok to have in your drink!!

There was a guy in the buffet restaurant who had us in stitches but i can't remember his name!! Sorry!

Margot our cleaner was very good too. Washed up for me and swept the floor daily of sand from the beach.

Jonathan the entertainer was ill during our stay so we only saw him a few times but his brother Ricky had taken over and was great with the kids. Look out for the Finger Song and Big Fish Little Fish...You'll be singing it back home too! Both Ricky and Jonathan entertained the kids throughout the day and night. Once you relax a little you'll realise they are in safe hands. I was a bit overprotective to start with not letting mine out of my site but the hotel itself is very secure. The areas with the pool and the bar are on the 2nd floor so you don't get people wandering in from outside unless they are staying at the hotel.

Bianca the Thomas Cook rep is lovely and very approachable. Friendly faced and will do her best to help with any situation. Make sure you go to the reps night. Only E21 per adult. Kids go free. Free drinks all night and a right laugh. They will put you into 2 teams and you have to compete for points against each other. They give out prizes etc.

The receptionist lady was very good too.... you just can't fault the staff at all!!!

The entertainment at night at the pool bar is quite funny and entertaining. The hypnotist guy I am sure was a load of rubbish but funny all the same. They all get you involved with stuff. Ash Wednesday and another comedian were very good.

There is a coastal path to walk to Puerto Rico. Make sure you do it. I was a bit worried about walking away from our complex... but its lovely. Look out for the lizards in thier natural habitats in the rocks along the way. We counted 23 one day. There is a McDonalds in Puerto Rico too for those who miss home food... although there are plenty of English Food places everywhere!

Lots of mini golf places to entertain the kids (and me) all approx E4.

OK now the bad points....

Some parts of the tiled flooring are badly in need of repair. One little boy slashed his foot on a broken tile and needed 5 stitches at the local clinic! I was impressed with the Mirador though as the very next day the maintenance man cordened off the area and replaced every single dodgey tile there. This was near the crazy golf course (which I didnt see one person use!)..

Also the smell of drains at night is quite over powering at times.

Obviously as mentioned before everything is very highly priced. Take advantage of happy hour at the bar (buy one get one free) at 4pm and 8pm. If you play it right you can get enough drinks at 8pm to last you all night so you don't have to go back to the bar.

Any questions feel free to contact me.. I'll try and add some pics soon!

" Just returned from a sunny 2 week... "

Just returned from a sunny 2 week holiday to Mirador! Mirador del Atlantico is perfectly situated less than 5 min walk to the beach, 15 min walk to Puerto Rico and 15 min walk to Europa Centre (up "heart attack hill"!!!!)!

The hotel is clean, well maintained and freshly decorated although complicated to find your way around but with in a couple of days you get used to it! Staying in a 1 bed apartment the room was spotless, spacious with fantastic views out to sea. The room was freshly decorated and relatively modern. We bought Air Con for 2 weeks - 80 euro in my opinion is a bargain as the heat is very dry and it makes the nights more comfortable! Shared our room with 1 cockroach which was swiftly removed and partly our fault for sleeping with the balcony door open 1 night! Also shared our balcony with a couple of lizards (1 at a time thankfully!!!) although they are "more scared of us" they are horrible things but harmless!

As with previous reviews it mentions the queing for sun beds this really has to be seen to be believed! On our first morning we went to pool side at 915 am and there was a sea of beach towels on sun beds!!! We managed to squeeze 2 sun beds in fortunately! The following day we went down early 855am and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the ammount of people stood round the pool side armed with beach towels protecting sun beds and umbrelllas!!! At 9 am its safe to put your sun bed out as the maintenance is nearly finished and the scramble to get as near to the pool side as possible is hilarious!!!! However, a lot of people were bagging their sun bed and then not appearing to late afternoon which is unfair on those who would spend all day at the pool side! Although we don't like long lies on holiday we did opt for the beach most days as it meant not having to get up to an alarm every morning!!

Pool side entertainment begins at 12 noon with Jonathan the entertainer blasting out cheesy tunes (do not lie underneath a speaker!!!) where he holds kids club! We were travelling without children it appeared that children adored him! He had a lot pf patience for them and always had different activities for them! All afternoon there is a timetable of various activities for you to take part in (killer pool, aqua aerobics, table tennis etc) and these seemed popular with adults and children! There was often visiting attractions to the pool side including a fashion show, hair braiding, jewellery.

Food at the pool side is as you expect - toasties, burgers and chips and reasonably priced, edible and fine for a quick snack! The drinks at the bar are very expensive!!!However if you purchase you drink from the supermarket you save a lot of money and the lady in the shop can open bottles for you! The service at the pool bar is slow especially at happy hour!

Staff at the Mirador were mostly very friendly and helpful (apart from Cleaners and maintenance staff who appear to be above saying morning politely in passing!"). Reception staff are 1st class. Although we never had any major queries but when exchanging money, booking taxis etc they really were fantastic. Bubbly personailities, good english and very efficient. DO NOT go to the shop between 8am and 9am as you will be walking over the maids clean floors and twice she rambled something in spanish to me!!!!

The shop in the Mirador is fine for essentials but as always slightly more expensive than the spar with is a 2 mon walk away! Open 8 am to 830 pm.

The beach is clean but busy!!! We paid 8 euro 50 cents for 2 sun beds and a parasol! Its used at lot by the spanish which is nice to see! Warning to families with children - the sea gets very deep extremely quickly so be aware of that!

The only downside of the this hotel is the noise at night! Although we were as far away from pool side as possible (thank goodness) it would appear that parents feel the need to allow children and teenagers to roam around the hotel, screaming, laughing and under age drinking. While everyone has the right to enjoy their holiday I do feel that by 11pm children and teenagers should be told to keep the volume down and stay in and around the pool bar area as to try and not disturb everyone! At times when arriving back at the hotel the reception resembled a youth club with teenagers (old enough to know how to behave!) would be shouting to each other, play fighting and playing with the lifts which meant a longer wait than usually as the would run up and down the floors requesting lifts! this was ok for us as we are able to walk the stairs but I did see an older couple getting rather impatient after waiting a long time in the noise to get the lift! Despite the receptions attempts to settle the children he was fighting a losing battle! You would also find groups of teens (aged 14 to 16) drinking in the corridors like it was their local street corner which was intimidating whilst walking through them! Perhaps parents should think of other holiday makers and ensure their children are behaving!!!!

That aside it was a great stay at a clean hotel and I would definitely go back altho in September when perhaps it would be less busy!

" been to the mirador before and left a... "

been to the mirador before and left a comment on here aswell in 2005 i think. the hotel is excellent, very clean and good for children. entertainer johnathon was good with the kids aswell, always doing something whether its water polo bah-bah-bah-bingo bingo get ur dabbers out or doing discos etc...
hotel entertainment isnt great, peter the hynotist, spanish dancers, a 'comedian' apparently!
excellent weather, only 4 euros taxi ride round to puerto rico for your 6 euro chinese buffet which is immense! excellent range of grub, everything u can think of.
the prices at the bar at the mirador are ridiculous, 3.75 euros for a pint of beer or juice, about £2.70? scandal , just wait till happy hour and drink the place dry, thats if dumb and dumber behind the bar are still awake to serve you, they are slower than a week in the jail.
anyways, great holiday, in amadores i recommend the london pride for a good full english and footy , they show english premiership and scottish games on setanta.
diceys in puerto rico is good, pints of magners are amazin, also the indian restaurant 'happy valley'round from 007 bar which you cant miss is amazing,I was there 3 times in 2 weeks, the bhoona is exceptional, also the bar next to it, 'The Piccadilly does 2 for 1 on drinks and good prices.
puerto rico is a great place to go whether with family or for younger ones, loads of irish bars, the usual really, entertainment in every pub
the mirador is away from all the hustle and bustle but only a couple of euros taxi away and ur in the epicentre!
just a note, if ur going to the mirador, book a trip on the boat sagitarius star, u go out for a few hours with 'jonny', great banter from him, thinks its 40 euros per person but u get a coolbox full of beers, crackin lunch, chance to go parasailing, on jetskis(extra 25 euros a pop though) and a free shot on the banana boat!big boat and u c the seacaves and the dolphins n that, a crackin day out!

all the best
