It was our 2nd time at this hotel and we are going back this year. This year it will be our 1st holiday with no children.
The hotel is excellent, the staff are very helpful, and the entertainment was 100 per cent better than our 1st time at the hotel. We have meet so many lovely families there. There are also so many lovely places to eat, especially the Irish bar at the amadores beech.
We are going back this July and we cannot wait. I recommend this hotel for families and couples.

I have only just found this site and thought that it would be totally selfish not to share with others how fantastic it is at the Mirador. We nearly forgot that we had taken our children such was the hard work and efforts put in by Becky to keep them entertained. Fantastic pool, beach and entertainment especially the water polo.
Within two weeks of our return we had already booked for next year and cannot wait.

Excellent facilities at hotel, and rep very good as well. At least 4 different activities a day organised.
Food in hotel was superb, and extremely cheap, they always had special offers on for dinner.
Is very close to beach, and is one of best beaches on the island. Right next to bus stop as well, which goes to other resorts.
If you're up to it, is walking distance to Puerto Rico, although takes almost an hour, and bit hilly.

Absoulutly amazing.
The food was very good.
Staff were polite and very helpful, cleaners do a excellent job on the room, especially David the barman and Becky the entertainer.
On the whole brilliant!

This was our second visit to the Mirador and my husband and I loved just as much this time as we did the last. So much so we have booked for 2008 already.
September is a fabulous time to go to Amadores, yes there were children but as Becky worked so hard we barely saw or heard a thing.
The rooms are all lovely we had a 1 bedroom the first time which was very spacious and we had a 2 bedroom apartment this time which was fabulous as there were 4 adults in our party this time.
We didn’t eat in the restaurant but we had some bar meals, they were all very enjoyable, the bar prices were extremely reasonable and the happy hours were great too.
The shop on the premises was very good, it had most things to keep you going, we generally went up the hill to the Europa Centre to the bigger supermarket however the good news is that a large spar has just been built at the end of the driveway.
The day time entertainment is mostly for the children however they do play adult water polo each day followed by poolside bingo.
The evening entertainment is quite good; they have children’s time every night followed by the main show. The parrot show is fabulous, the hypnotist show is hilarious but the abba tribute is truly awful. They play bingo again after the main show which is worth while waiting for.
The beach is only a 5 minute walk away, by the beach there are various restaurants the best ones are on the left hand side as you face the water.
There are some more restaurants up the big hill in the Europa Centre but there is a much bigger choice only a 20 minute walk away in Puerto rico at the Shopping Centre.
Can’t wait to come back.

Hola!!
Just arrived back today from Mirador with my boyfriend and already looking to book for next year and take the kids this time.
Overall excellent hotel....
The rooms are kept clean as cleaners are in every day apart from Sunday (they deserve it). 1 bad point is the beds...not the best; a bit uncomfortable to say the least.
The pool and the pool bar; again excellent, kept tidy, never any bother getting a sun bed and enough room around the pool to get privacy to toast in peace. The view is amazing.
The shop has everything you may need.
Even though we didn’t have the kids I was looking out for their entertainment, again excellent. Between the entertainers themselves, play park and the pool, the boys will be kept well entertained.
Once more EXCELLENT!!!!

Accommodation was great, the apartments were kept to a really high standard. September is the wrong time to go if you have kids as it was mainly old people who would not take part in any activities, which left Becky doing a hard job.
I found the people of Gran Canaria very friendly and I found the welsh at Mirador del Atlantico very ignorant, although you get the odd spoil sport on holiday.
Overall the food was fantastic and the alcohol was reasonably priced especially at happy hour.
I will go again but I will go July and August.

Just got back yesterday from the Mirador, my husband and myself. It was one of the best holidays we have ever had.
The staff are really friendly and helpful, everywhere is kept spotlessly clean. No litter or noisy children as on previous reviews - September seems to be a good time to go as it is really quiet. No problem getting sun beds anytime of day and the weather is still hot. The shop is reasonably well stocked, a bit expensive but there is nowhere else to buy essentials, Becky did an excellent job of keeping everybody entertained, the evening shows, some were better than others. The restaurant was reasonably priced at 10.50 euros for an all you can eat buffet, a different kind every night, we went to the Chinese, the Italian and the BBQ .The BBQ wasn’t as good as the other two. I think it is a good idea to get there early 6.30 when it is still hot and plenty of choice.
The pool snack bar had the usual burgers and toasted sandwiches but that’s all you need really at lunch time. The drinks weren’t as expensive as the last review said, 4 euros for a coke - we never paid more than 2 euros and that wasn’t happy hour which they do have twice a day.
There are some good restaurants down on the beach front; our favourite being the Amadores Beach Club on the pier. The food was delicious and had comfy chairs with cushions then you can sit outside and have a cocktail on a wooden deck with sofas and lamps; they don’t have measures for the drinks so they do tend to be strong. Another nice restaurant is an Italian restaurant called Ciao Ciao. There isn’t alot to do during the day in Amadores other than the beach, but it is only a 30 minuets walk to Puerto Rico and a short bus ride to Puerto De Mogan where there is a market every Friday. We went on quite a few trips - Aqualand is a good waterpark you can have your photo taken with sea lions; the Camel ride along the sand dunes in Maspolomas was good fun; the Island tour takes you right up into the mountains where they give you lunch right at the top at a lovely restaurant; the VIP super cat was a relaxing trip out to sea on a catamaran with sun beds and a jaccuzi and time for swimming in the sea; the Dolphin trip was amazing we had been going out to sea for about an hour and half and starting to think we wasn’t going to see anything when all of a sudden there was lots of them all round the boat, it was well worth going, we saw two turtles on the way back as well. I would definitely go back to the Mirador, it was a wonderful holiday.

Just got back after two weeks at the Mirador, previously went in 2005. Still a really good hotel; rooms spotless however beds really hard and uncomfortable after 2 weeks and only one lumpy pillow!
Becky was brilliant with the kids and kept them entertained at all times - credit to the hotel, just sad to hear that she is off to Australia at the end of the season. We ate in the hotel a couple of times it was good value for the money. Pool bar far too expensive 4 euros for a coke. Hotel shop always well stocked and we bought our drinks from there instead of the bar.
We will be returning to Gran Canaria next year but we are going to try some where different.

We returned last week from two weeks at the Mirador. We had a superb time. We have two boys aged 10 and 13. We spent nearly every day on the beach, as the pool was so busy. You don't spend much if you play in the sea all day!
One day we ventured to the market at Mogan after reading a recommendation on this site - it was too hot, too crowded and the stall holders were a little bit too pushy. The Port itself is beautiful though.
Another day we went on a boat to see the dolphins. This was actually the highlight. I don't go in for dolphins much but the sight of them in their natural habitat; playing with the boat and making their lovely noises brought a tear to my eye. The boat crew were fantastic.
In the evenings we mostly relaxed by the pool bar which has varied entertainment. We're not usually the bingo type but we did try to join in and we really enjoyed the Elvis night. Becky and Leanne were really good.
My own children didn't join in and they are old enough to keep each other entertained but I can imagine that for parents of small girls the entertainment must be a Godsend! Becky and Leanne were like Pied Pipers with all the 3-10 year olds following them around!
Happy hour is very popular and the bar staff did their best but there is a blind spot at the bar between the till and the lemonade dispenser where we watched customers being ignored night after night and getting very stressed when the deadline for happy hour came and went and they still weren't being served (including myself!).
We spent four nights eating at Ciao Ciao on the beach. I would highly recommend this - fantastic Italian food. We knew it would be good when we saw the locals eating there. Can be pricey though. We then went to play mini golf - very good. We spent a couple of evenings in Puerto Rico - it's a nice walk. Shopping is much nicer then but even here, the shop owners are still a little pushy- especially in the electrical shops. The night life would be good I'm sure.
The Mirador itself was first class. Ignore all bad reviews on food - it was great in the evenings. Don't know about lunch. The buffet is perfect for families. We know our food and that was great. Cheap too. Service is mostly great. We did witness one or two arguments, mostly about money but I got the feeling it was really about the language barrier. The inside of the hotel is spotless and well kept. Cleaners, etc fantastic. Shop expensive but necessary.
I have only two negative points. I don't mind kids. I work with them. However, they dropped litter all over the complex. After two weeks of picking up water balloons, lolly sticks, wrappers and plastic cups dropped by other people's children, I began to be ashamed of British kids. There are loads of bins.
My other gripe was the gym. It was absolutely rubbish. If, like me, you've used gyms a lot, you expect something when the hype says 'fully equipped gym' but believe me it was not equipped at all. There were only four things and two of them were broken. I flounced out in a huff - what a letdown!
Just three pointers: 1) don't get the coach from the airport - ask your travel agent about a taxi instead. 2) Take your own beach umbrella - much cheaper. 3) Definitely pay the extra money to have air conditioning or you won't be able to sleep.
Highly recommended place but of course your holiday will only be as good as you make it yourselves...

Well I went to the Mirador with my family two adults and two children we were directed to our room which was the last room in the whole hotel. We had two ways of getting to it and they weren’t very handy for prams but it was kept really clean and although it was basic it did its job.
We didn’t pay for air conditioning £50 a week! The cleaners were brilliant came every day but Sunday and did everything!
We only stayed for a week and ate at the hotel buffet once when it was Italian night it was good but my daughter who is extremely picky ate chips and then after helped herself to a massive bowl of ice cream!
The bar was always busy and the ice pops are dear enough the bar food was lovely and quiet reasonable!!
My children hated staying at the pool because of the amount of younger children I hate to say it but they were really annoying. They played bingo twice a day and this terrible song.
So we went to the beach which is lovely not far from the apartments or nightlife I recommend Puerto Rico it work out about 2.70 euro to the centre from the hotel they will order it or you can walk to the beach for one.
The children had kids disco and had a ball but if your children are older it’s no good! But there are pool tables inside and out there was entertainment each night at the bar with the reptile man, Elvis, the hypnotist, dancers and much more.
They also have 3 computers which are 2 euro for 1 hour. I enjoyed the Mirador.
