Ah I wish we were back at the Mirador!
we had our best ever family Holiday, the pool was great our 5year old made lots of friends and Jonathan the entertainer was Fantastic with the children and adults.
The room had a fantasic view, we could hear and see the sea- beautiful.
we went self cartering- the kitchen was really useable and had every thing we needed- we cooked every nights in the apartment.Good supermarket up the road.
evening entertainment was mixed- the children loved the disco! the magic show was amazing.Robbie williams lookey likey was a bit dodgy!
The beach is a 5 minute walk away- perfeck! even though due to the fantastic Jonathan we had to go to kids club before we hit the beach.
we only stayed a week so we didn't go far just beach and pool but wow what a wonderful time we had.just chilled . I can't wait untill next year- we will go for two weeks,
thank you very much

Jul 2008, The Smiths

Just got back from a 2 week stay at the Mirador,1st week was quieter than the 2nd week, there is notices everywhere saying not to reserve the sunbeds by that fell by the wayside on the 2nd week as people were down there by 8am with towels and getting there pitch for the day, they had to eventually padlock the beds at night time but still they queued in the morning. The beach was lovely so we went there instead to avoid the sunbed hoggers. The room was clean and had ample room for all 4 of us and maid service was fine also. Johanthan kept the kids amused afternoon and early evening too. Ate in the hotel several times , plenty of salad every night and the choice of kids food was fine too. Staff at the restaurant/pool bar friendly but sometimes harrased at the happy hour in the evening. Got about the area by the local Global Buses, managed to get to Aqualand, Playa Del Ingles, Mogan and not too bad price wise either. There was plenty of shops down at the beach selling all the beach stuff and nice places to eat there too, Ciao Ciao very friendly and they never tried to get you in not like other places do. Would recommend this resort for families rather than young people.

Have just returned from a lovely holiday. Johnthan is a fantatisic entertainer and person both my husband and i work with children and could see the fantastic raport he has with the kids young and old . Both my sons adorded him and wanted to spent most of their time around the pool or with johnathan as he always had time for them. Spoke to many of the regulars and although becky was missed Hadn't got a problem with johnthan perhaps others should just of spent the time to talk to him.
The bar prices are very steep apart from happy hour so stock up then , the resturant food was very good but can get cheaper on the beach or at the europa center. be aware of the extras ie air conditioning at 40e per week tv ect. very safe and entertaining hotel for kids and adults. Would return back and already looking for next year.

We are just back from 2 weeks at the Mirador. We have 3 girls 12, 6 and 4 and we all had a great holiday. Jonathan did a brilliant job keeping everyone entertained and was great with the kids. Only a couple of issues - the price of drinks at the bar - beer and soft drinks were expensive and the bar service was a bit haphazard. Secondly the Pool did not always seem very clean. Overall a great holiday - would definitely recommend it.

this was our 3rd year at the mirador and everything was superb as usual apart from one thing, the absolutely awful entertainer JONATHON. For 12 whole hours a day you cannot escape the most annoying boring man i have ever had the misfortune to come across. I beg the mirador management to get rid of him and bring back the wonderful BECKY. I spoke to at least 20 mirador regulars around the hotel who agreed with me. Apart from this i can thoroughly recommend the mirador for a great family holiday.

Just returned, and had a pretty much great time. Great standard accommodation and hotel layout, with good family poolside entertainment all day and up till 11.30pm.
Drinks at pool bar very steep outside the two happy hours, 3.75 euro for a beer, and 4 euro a large coke or orange juice. Our only gripe was that having booked a two bedroom appartment, of which there are only 10, we were on the ground floor right next to the kids play area, which would remain very very noisy every night until 2.a.m. with adults finishing their drinks, and letting their toddlers scream till their hearts were content. We have kids ourselves but unfortunately there are too many parents who are happy to let theirs do as they please as long as it leaves them to their beer. This would go on even later some nights as people waited here for their coach to arrive to take them home. The earliest we slept was 2.a.m. Even with our 2 kids we would in future book a one bedromm appt as these are higher up and more out of earshot of the noise. But even bearing this in mind, we would go back here, overall it was a great holiday in a nice clean resort with a lovely beach.

Hi all,
Just returned from a two week family holiday in Amadores, the Mirador was exactly what we had expected, clean, well equiped rooms with microwave for sterilising baby bottles etc.
The entertainment for the children was quite good and most nights the adult evening shows where good. The staff are very friendly and cheerfull but a little slow to serve you at the pool side bar.
The restaurant is basic and would not be a good choice for my taste unless you like to eat alot of salad.
The cleaning was good most days however on a couple of occssions the floors needed washing and where not cleaned. (Housekeeping do not work weekends)
It would be great if the air conditioning was free or at least not as expensive as it is, especially travelling with two small children.
Also can we please have a double bed for adults what is it with this when you travel abroad?????
Anyway my main reason for writing this review was to let all families travelling to Amadores and the surrounding areas with small children know that if you decide to book any "family excursions" please know exactly what you are booking and beware.
We had three bad experiences with our Thomas Cook rep Bianca and her assistant from Anfi while on our two week holiday.
The first was to Anfi which is a nearby club resort which is selling time shares. Once you get their you know what is involved but unfortunately it is easier to get their than to get away. We were informed that we would spend the first half of the morning being shown around Anfi and would then have the remainder of the afternoon to ourserlves to go to the beach and then take a taxi back to our resort at our own leisure. In return for this we would receive a €45.00 voucher to be used on any other excursion.
Anfi was a nightmare, we had a four year old and a 10 month old baby with us who by 3 o'clock in the afternoon, only wanted to get out of the sun and onto the beach. Basicially the big sell was on and as we where also travelling with a youger couple the sqeeze was being put onto them when we made them aware not for the first time that we where not interested.
When we complained back at the resort we got an apology but we obviously didn't complain to severely as another couple with a 12year old daughter who had the same bad experience where given two bottles of wine, t-shirts etc, all with the anfi logo.

Our second bad experience was with the "family night" in fibbers - face painting for the children, family fun quiz etc. - arrived to a underground disco in a shopping arcade with disco lights flashing and loud music blaring - lovely start to a family night, we departed very quickly as it was clear what was to follow. Our younger couple who where travelling with us stayed with their 9month old baby - nothing happened for the first hour. Then twenty minutes into the activities they left - the family fun night entailed, 2 disco songs for the children where they were then put into a corner for face painting (at an extra charge, even though we had already paid for the night out) and the rest of the evening drinking games. Now when I say that we had a young couple with us they are in their early 20's and we are in our early 30's but please Thomas Cook don't sell this night as a family night as drinking games are not for under 16's at least I should hope not. Bianca was great again another soooooo sorry......, but no one has ever complained before. That is maybe because of the reaction they get from you???? Anyway we got our money back but unfortunatly our friends lost out.
The third and worst experience of the whole holiday was our "two Hour" trip to Tenerife which we booked on the first day of our holidays as a second last day out. This had to be better. Bianca informed us it was two hours across with a trip to Loro Park and we also where made think that we would get to spend time looking around Tenerife or on the beach. Please remember we where travelling with two small children. We where to be picked up at 6.40a.m. the bus arrived 10 minutes late and after 40minutes of pick ups we finally set off on a five hour trip to Teneriffe we arrive at 12.00noon, told we had 5hours on Loro Park and to be back on the bus at 5.15p.m. for another 5/6hour journey home. We got off the bus in Peurto Rico and got a taxi home this was now 10.00p.m. at night and we would have been another 40minutes dropping off others. We did not travel so much to get to the Canaries and here we where now the day before going home having to endure this horrendous journey and all because we where misinformed again!!!!!
I wasn't going to complain to Bianca but she approached us and asked how our trip was, again she was sooooo sorry, but that is what she had been told, and as my husband pointed out, maybe they should take some children and go on these excursions themselves before selling them to young families. The tour guide for the day was also able to inform us of what our day would entail once we had picked everyone up so if Bianca and Thomas Cook are selling these trips surely they should know what they entail or is it all about the sale?????
Nothing was done for us as a way of apology anyway it was to late as we know had to face into our trip home and we where all exhausted from the day before. I have travelled twice now with this company and am very sorry to say that it will be my last time as it has left a bad taste in my mouth. Also being in the business myself and having high standards the hole thing was a joke. Let me tell you that the trip the Tenerife was €96.00 per adult and half that for one child - an expensive day out for traveling all day.
So I will finish and say please all young families out their mind your money and plan your excursions yourself the taxi's are really good value, you can come and go as you please and if it all goes wrong you can blame nobody but yourself (it will work out alot cheaper).
Enjoy.

booked up way back in january..
we went as a group of 4 young teenagers looking to have a laugh
bt being at this hotel, we werent allowed to do this wat so ever.
i know its a family hotel and all but even the slightest noise we made, reception was phoning telling us we had to quiten down or 'the police would be phoned'.
NOT A PLACE FOR TEENAGERS!!
especially if you dont want to hear an annoying voice constantly by the pool when your trying to nurse a hangover :)
jonathan being the entertainer... thot he was more of the hotel manager!
all in all hotel was great, rooms were cleaned everyday apart from sundays.
always ended up in puerto rico as the entertainment there was 100x better than the hotel.
Bianca the rep... brilliant to talk to and was a great help wenever needed.
cheers

Just got back from playa amadores and...

Jun 2008, Mrs N Brazier

Just got back from playa amadores and I have got to say we had a great holiday the Mirador hotel was clean well presented and a lovely place to relax and unwind. The views of the sea were beautiful best views I've had in a hotel.....We ate out a few times in the hotel restaurant and i hve got to say their buffets were lovely the prices were normally 11.95 euros for adults and children 5.95 euros but sometimes had special offers on but we did eat out a lot of the times too down by the beach and up in the Europa centre the amadeous was a lovely restaurant BIG meals and good prices too and then in Peurto Rico we ate in the Miami another good restaurant...the only problem I found was that there are no bars with any entertainment in just restaurants or cafes so we had to head back to the hotel every night but the entertainment was good just wish there was more choice. The entertainment for the kids round the pool was brilliant you are doing a good job there jonathan keep it up (my kids did'nt want to go down to the beach because they enjoyed the entertainment so much). Be warned if you are looking for a relaxing holiday this is not for you its more for families and couples I would'nt say the elderly as it gets a bit loud round the pool during the day but all in all I had a great holiday so did the rest of the familythe staff are friendly and willing to help. Another problem I found was that if you are a family bigger than 4 you will need to get 2 taxis whereever you go as they only seat 4 ppl but they are not too expensive........ we will be definately going bak there again
