been to the mirador before and left a comment on here aswell in 2005 i think. the hotel is excellent, very clean and good for children. entertainer johnathon was good with the kids aswell, always doing something whether its water polo bah-bah-bah-bingo bingo get ur dabbers out or doing discos etc...
hotel entertainment isnt great, peter the hynotist, spanish dancers, a 'comedian' apparently!
excellent weather, only 4 euros taxi ride round to puerto rico for your 6 euro chinese buffet which is immense! excellent range of grub, everything u can think of.
the prices at the bar at the mirador are ridiculous, 3.75 euros for a pint of beer or juice, about £2.70? scandal , just wait till happy hour and drink the place dry, thats if dumb and dumber behind the bar are still awake to serve you, they are slower than a week in the jail.
anyways, great holiday, in amadores i recommend the london pride for a good full english and footy , they show english premiership and scottish games on setanta.
diceys in puerto rico is good, pints of magners are amazin, also the indian restaurant 'happy valley'round from 007 bar which you cant miss is amazing,I was there 3 times in 2 weeks, the bhoona is exceptional, also the bar next to it, 'The Piccadilly does 2 for 1 on drinks and good prices.
puerto rico is a great place to go whether with family or for younger ones, loads of irish bars, the usual really, entertainment in every pub
the mirador is away from all the hustle and bustle but only a couple of euros taxi away and ur in the epicentre!
just a note, if ur going to the mirador, book a trip on the boat sagitarius star, u go out for a few hours with 'jonny', great banter from him, thinks its 40 euros per person but u get a coolbox full of beers, crackin lunch, chance to go parasailing, on jetskis(extra 25 euros a pop though) and a free shot on the banana boat!big boat and u c the seacaves and the dolphins n that, a crackin day out!
all the best
jags on tour!

We stayed at the Mirador, having stayed here 2 years ago and wondered if it had changed much.
Once again, it lived up to our expectations and we had a great holiday
We were in a 2 bedroom apt in Block B with a spectatcular view overlooking the beach. While the rooms aren't the biggest, they are well appointed and maintained and any problems seemed to be dealt with quickly. Staff were pretty good, some better than others, but on the whole quite helpful.
Food in the restaurant varied from below average to pretty good depending on what the theme was that night, but not the cheapest for what you get, and the same is true of the pool snack bar. Drinks were also a bit pricey, but it didn't stop quite a few bar flies spending most of the day at the bar(and one pair, all night that we saw when leaving for our flight at 4am...!!).
Cleaners in most days and towels, linen, etc changed most days. Location is great in that it is in a quiet area, handy for the beach and within a short taxi ride to the late night life if that's what you want, but is ideal as a family location.
Sunbeds were a problem the second week due to people getting up at silly times, reserving sunbeds in "their" spot then not returning to use them until well after lunchtime. It got so bad that the rep, Bianca was spoken to by management, but what she was supposed to do about it was anybody's guess.... it didn't help that there was a bit of friction between the cleaners and Paco the pool guy, when they did their once a week wipe down and clean of the sunbeds ahead of paco cleaning the pool terraces with his cleaning machine which added to the sumbed problem that week.
Entertainment is not bad, it's not Las Vegas and I have seen worse(except for the Blues Brothers!!!) but it's free and fills in the evenings. Sadly(as quite a few others agreed) it's no longer Becky who was here the last time, and while Jonathon is fine at what he does, and does try to keep everyone entertained, he seemed to be endlessly plugging his Holiday CD's, photo shoots with himself, self promotion, as well as the endless specials in the restaurant at the Mirador.
Becky had people asking for pics to be taken with her, and didn't have to keep promoting herself - she let her ability do the talking and it was great success. One of the only criticisms I have is that for the shows where you can get a pic taken with the various acts - usually the animal acts(snakes, parrots, etc) it is not cheap, and certainly wasn't so expensive 2 years ago. Also, some of the regular acts who were there 2 years ago, are still using the same routines, so not a lot of change there either.....
That's the only reason I didn't give it a 10 out of 10, other than that it is a great place and would recommend it to anyone who wanted a good place to stay in a great location within easy reach of the beach, restaurants

Really friendly place and fantastic for kids so a definite no if you want a relaxing holiday with no noise ( well before 12 when everyone goes to bed ). The entertainment bloke Jonathon was great with the kids and he definitely does his job. The only downside is the ridiculous arrogance of people putting towels on the sunbeds at stupid o clock and then not even using the beds until 4pm if at all leaving people to lie on the floor.
Very cheesy but as long as you accept it for what it is supposed to be then it's fun;)

We have just returned from a two week stay at the Mirador and it was fantastic. The rooms, bar area, restaurant etc are spotless, the staff are friendly and helpful and the sunbeds are the most comfortable ever. We had no problem getting sunbeds, just walked down at 9.30 and put my towels down. The sunbeds disappear quickly because a lot of parents are hogging them for their kids when they dont really need them, we only ever took them for the adults. We didnt really have a problem with noise after hours either.
The entertainer at the Mirador, Jonathan was absolutely fantastic (Becky who?) and worth every penny he's paid and more. What a great guy. He works tirelessly and in that heat! Another reviewer said there was nothing for teenagers to do, but he was great with them, they had days on the beach, a party, a fancy dress disco, he had them all up dancing every night and doing karaoke. Pool, water polo, aqua aerobics, kids water olympics etc. There was a group of about 20-30 from all over England and they got together and had a blast, they were all crying and hugging when we all left. The night time entertainment was brilliant too, something different every night.
The only downside to the Mirador was the cost of food and drink, it was ridiculous. No wonder they have a couple of happy hours. It really lets the place down. If they want
the bar packed every night they should reduce the drinks by at least 1 euro each. Puerto Rico is cheaper if you like that sort of thing, M & M is really cheap for drinks and the Chinese all you can eat buffets are great, 6 euro adults and 3.50 kids.Amadores beach is lovely and there are some good places to eat. The Queen Vic is the cheapest and the best. Ciao Ciao is always packed and Flipper and Sinatras are good value too.
We loved the Mirador, wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and can't wait to go back, just hope the drinks are cheaper!

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Mirador.
All in all, we had a fantastic time.
Playa Amadores is a beautiful place. Great views from the apartments.
Apartments are spacious and cleanliness is first class.
Entertainment great - Jonathan works his butt off!! We have 2 boys aged 9 and 7 and they had a ball!
On the down side - food in restaurant is poor and drinks at pool bar very expensive.
We ate down at beach on most evenings or ventured into Puerto Rico a few times where meals and drinks were a bit cheaper. Approx 3 euros for a taxi.
Would definitely return in the future.

just back from 2 weeks stay at the Mirador, we really loved it. There is so much too do. Jonathan the entertainer is there every day keeping the kids busy, there is bingo each day at 4.00, happy hr at 4.00, and again at 8.00, entertainment each evening which we really enjoyed. The rooms are big, and clean, no sign of any cockroaches!! The food in the restaurant is pretty good too, its usually a buffet and has loads to choose from, there is deals on like buy one get one free. Only complaint is getting a sunbed, if u are not the sad ones down queing at 8.00 am to get one, then u wont get one later. everyone seemed to keep there towels on them all day . The kids loved it, they are 12 and 5 , they are entertained from 8.00 pm till midnight each evening by jonathon and which ever show is on that night. there are pool tables, mini golf, air hockey , table tennis, jonathon plays water polo and water aerobics daily, . The weather was amazing too, the Mirador has the most amazing views from the balconies of the sea. Will be hopefully returning next year. Thanks Jonathon, missing you already.

Very well positioned apartment complex. Well maintained and reasonably sized apartments with almost all of them having amazing views of the beach Towels changed at least 5 times a week. I thought the pool area was well maintaned. On site mini-market that was well stocked. Obviously more expensive than larger supermarkets but not that different from the other walkable shop of a spar by the roundabout.
Fairly busy during the last 2 weeks of July. Sunbeds get reserved around nine-ish with a few still available after that but not many. Saturday and Sunday usually OK as they're handover days so pool a bit quieter.
Food ok. Buffet 11.95 (adult) and kids (5 something) for a themed buffet. good but not outstanding. Plenty of restaurants on Amadores beach for the same price , if not a bit cheaper.
Pool Bar - Snack food OK. Kids burger meals were fine.
Pool Bar Drinks - V Pricey. Pint of local Tropical beer 3.75. Vodka & Coke - 3.80. Large coke/fanta/7up nearly 4. There are 2 happy hours where it's buy one get one free.
The current exchange rate doesn't help but other bars were around 1 euro less for each drink.
Entertainment. Evening shows were pretty good for a fairly small hotel.
Daytime Rep (Jonathon) ...seems not quite to live up to the reputation of the girls from previous years. Much more of Family entertainment rather than a kids club.
Usually Kids Club , followed by a killer pool , water polo , bingo and happy hour and then more in the evening. Problem is that he spends 15 minutes talking about each slot so the kids club eventually starts about 20 past. Water polo is 12 minutes each way. He does what he does very very well.... but my youngest didn't really take to the kids club as they don't get to do much. He'd enjoyed previous years at different hotels a lot more.
Got to be said we didn't find the noise to bad. We were in the block nearest the entertainment - must be heavy sleepers ;-)
Cons - Pool bar a bit pricey , entertainment fair. Pool a bit busy (probably due to popularity and rave reviews from previous years)
Pros - Very nice hotel (certainly for a 3*) , Great location well maintained , handy for beach and short cab into Puerto Rico for the nights you want some night-life. Amadores very nice and quiet.

Just back from a great holiday, thank you Bianca. Many thanks to Lynne our ANFI rep, we had a fantastic day at ANFI and would recommend it to everyone. Don´t listen to other people, it´s everything Lynne says and more. Arrange this with her and you will be well looked after. Bianca is a great asset to Thomas Cook and they both make a winning team

this hotel is lovely it is ideal for families and couples alike we visted this hotel with our daughter who was 2 year old at the time and she loved it especially the childrens playarea the bingo around the pool at 4.00 pm everyday was great and the money for winning was very good. The views from this hotel are absolutley breathtaking.
Amordores itself was quite when we were there but if you like something a little bit more lively puerto rico is a couple of minutes away in a taxi would definately go back again as their is something to suit everyone young or old.
