" THE PICTURES DONT DO IT JUSTICE!!! "
Submitted By: gpj2009Just returned from Stelios Stalis Apartment....what a great holiday!!Clean, well maintained rooms...freindly and helpful staff. If you had any issues the dealt with them within 20 minutes! The place is not expensive at all,and you can also use the facilities at the Horizon next door as well. This is because they own both sites. The tavernas are about 15 min walk away, alomg with the shops.
The pools may be a bit salty but that does not devalue the place at all.
We hired a vehicle from Euro star car hire and explored the island over 3 days,as Stalis is a great location for a base.
The arranged Creatan night to Anapolis was also better that expected.
Overall a great holiday, from great staff at a great location!!!!
Advice: Highly recommended,safe,secure holiday environment
Activities: Jannis golden heart(well worth the walk),

" for groups of youngens "
Submitted By: princess heidilike i said we didnt expect much as on past holidays as a group of young girls that dont want 2 pay a lot you dont usually get a lot, which wasnt the case here, so if u r a group of youngens that are looking 4 a cheap hol deal this was graet accomadation wise! we ended up paying £270 for 2 weeks s/c end of june which is pretty dam gud!
all the staff were welcoming n pleasent, nice pool, menu is simple but food is cheap and nice and u do get quite a big portion 4 ur £, selection of drinks at the bar is adequate, they do kareoke n theme nites which we didnt do much of as went out of hotel in the eve!
NIGHTLIFE:
its a bit of a walk into stalis but its bearable but if goin out drinking prob better 2 get a taxi back which are cheap!not many music bars in stalis itself if thats what you want, rhythem which gave us loadsa free fishbowls n cocktails, yo yo's which is a cute lil indie bar with a hottie barman, n bliss which has gud music, but malia is a 5 min taxi ride away which is packed and 5 mins in other direction is hersonissos which is wicked with loadsa bars n clubs 2, so go xplore!!
bar staff were nice used 2 let us take wine n glasses in 2 our room while getting ready as long as we eventually brought them back, would come and open the bar 4 us wen we rolled in at 3 o clock 2 get sum water, snacks etc but did get a bit funny 2wards us in the end bcz we didnt want him gettin 2 touchy feely with us if u no wt i mean!!!
the only bad thing bout the hotel is the MOANY OLD PEOPLE well wen i say old they werent even that old like 40's but obviously 2 old to rememba wat its like 2 be young, neway they constantly moaned that they didnt no the hotel was goin 2 b a 18-30's hotel, which it wasnt!!!!!! jst bcoz it had a few groups of young people in it doesnt mean its a 18-30's hotel, we cud of moaned that we didnt no there was going 2 b older people there it was silly as we werent even that noisy, hols are ment 2 b fun!!! i can undastand if we were comin in at 4 in the morn really noisy n waking every1 up for the whole time we were there, but it wasnt like that and they made us feel guilty everytime we saw them at the pool cz we had come in early hours......people shud get a life...think they used 2 wait up 4 us in the end jst 2 have sumfing 2 moan bout
but neway hotel werent 2 harsh with us jst told us 2 keep it down a bit but loved us really!!!
all in all great hol n great stayin at stelios good choice of hotel!!!!!!

" hi,
Stopped at the stalis... "
Stopped at the stalis apartments for just one week with my friend as a last
minute booking. we received a great welcome and the staff were friendly through out the holiday. The apartments were located about 10 minutes away from the action but it was a nice stroll, from the numerous bars and restaurants. The greek night at he apartments was great fun and give you the chance to meet fellow holiday makers. I have heard from recent reviews 2008 that Andreas no longer works at the apartments, but what a shame..does anyone know were he has gone to work? He must have stayed in the business because he was born to do hotel managing work.

Submitted By: Mr J WilsonWe had a one bedroomed apartment which was very clean and large enough for the 4 of us. The bedroom had 2 single beds then there was a sofa bed and a camp bed in the living room. All the beds were comfortable and clean. The kitchen consisted of a full size fridge, microwave, two cooking rings and a sink.
The bar and pool areas were not huge but the food was nice and the staff were friendly.
The apartments were a slow 15 minute stroll from the centre of the town and the beach.
Stalis beach was beautiful but watch out for the sea urchins beside the rocks. They are very painful to stand on which my partner found out on our 2nd day. They are not poisonous though - just painful.
Overall I would definitely recommend these apartments.

Submitted By: Mrs L SHAWHowever i would not return to Stalis again the walk from the apartments to the main beach road was about 15 mins which was fine going as it was all down hill, however on the way back it was up a steep incline which when you have 2 tired under 6 children can feel like you are climbing a mountain.
Also Stalis is very busy and congested at all times of the day and night, not to mention watching out for all the quad bikes and mopeds which speed along, although there was quite a heavy police presecne trying to prevent them using the beach road.
I went to Stalis 9 years ago and thought it was lovely, however it is now just turning into a Malia overflow resort. which is a real shame.
On a positive note we spent a couple of days at Star Beach which was great, and we also used the beach through the nanna beach complex next door which was much quiter and cleaner than the main beach.
Lots of lovely restaraunts where the kids were always given free ice cream.
However be warned if you are travelling with olympic be prepared to have a nightmare flight. Going out we were the only people with children on a flight full of drunk teenagers going to Malia and had to endure 4 hours of swearing, singing rude songs and vomitting, which was very scary.

Submitted By: Mr P McHughThis one is the Stelios Stalis Apartments, at the West end of Stalis, and near to Nana Beach Hotel. Malia (for clubbing) is at the East end of Stalis, at least a 45 minute walk away, or 12 euro taxi ride. No building is more than 3 storey in Malia/Stalis. Olympic tour operators are very efficient, reps at airport, transfers all run smoothly; but excursions are often expensive and mediocre. Best to book your own trips - lots of shops to barter with.
The Stelios Apartments were fine; basic but clean, and sufficient for our needs. We had two apartments, each one-bedroom. Each also had a third bed and a very comfortable settee/bed so each apartment could comfortable accomodate 2 adults and 2 children (or 4 good friends). We had two 17 year old boys, so chose to pay more and let them have a whole apartment to themselves. Sadly they had the room next door! The apartment had a cooker with 2 rings, microwave, sink, fridge, pots & pans, cutlery etc. Bring your own washing-up liquid, tea-towels, cleaning cloths. Bathroom was fine, big sink and work-top, proper toilet, shower which doubles as a sit-in bath (very common in Greece). Remember no toilet paper to be flushed; use the bin, which is emptied on alternate days or sometimes every day, when new towels & sheets arrive. The main bedroom had a TV (CNN, Sky News, some music channels, other channels with occasional programmes in English) and a phone, handy to call other apartment at 4am to moan about the noise! The safe cost 20 Euro for your visit, and is well worth it. We did not pay for air-conditioning (was 40 euro/week) but the boys found that their's worked anyway. Lucky them!
Our apartments were on the ground floor, and described as "inland views" but as the hotel is on a headland we could still see the sea. By climbing over the low wall and walking a few minutes across "retained wildlife habitat" we could reach the rocks at the sea-shore. This land is criss-crossed by pathways or tracks. You cannot bathe here (and are probably trespassing), but it is useful to note that you are within spitting distance of the coast. The land is maybe 20 feet above sea-level, and the rocks are easily scaled.
When we arrived, the hotel was mostly young adults, who were often noisy in the early hours. (But we had brought 2 of them) During the second week, it was mostly families, and much quieter. One night I saw a moped accident right outside the hotel, 2 ambulances 3 police cars, serious injuries. Most riders don't wear a helmet, but Greek law (and common sense) requires it. If you don't the Fine is 350 Euro.
Moans - Stelios Apartments seem to use sea-water in the swimming pools, or massive quantities of chemicals. It is not unpleasant, but not my preference. Their "Greek Night" is a shambles, the fires go out, they throw metal ashtrays instead of plates, dancing is half-hearted and poor, the whole event is "tacky" and an embarrassing affair. As usual at a hotel; drinks, ice-cream and pool-table is over-priced. Better to go elsewhere, lots of choice. Reception is hardly ever staffed. The room keys are supposed to be handed in if you go off site, but the keys are left there unguarded for hours at a time. Cleaners leave bunches of room keys outside the rooms.
Stalis is a great place, the Blue Sea Resort pools on beach road are free to non-residents and the water is fresh. Best restaurant is Maistali, just down the footpath onto beach road. Our stable diet was mixed grill for two, 18 Euro and spendid value, house white 7 euro/litre, beer 1.5 euro/pint, and free Raki. Payphones are red or blue. Phonecards for blue ones cost 5 euro for up to 3 hours, but don't work in red ones. We called home every day, and only used one card. Great. There is free Wi-Fi internet access available from the supermarket; leave apartments, turn right, first shop on left (across main road) about 400 metres. As for Stelios staff, we hardly interacted with them so can't really comment - but they were all polite enough to us. Sad to say some English visitors are an embarrassment to the nation.

" We have just returned from 2 weeks at... "
Submitted By: Mrs D WraggThe apartments are situated at the better side of Stalis and it's about a 15 minute walk to the start of the bars/tavernas etc. The beach also begins here and stretches along the coast. The beach is golden sand and very hot to walk on! One word of warning whilst we were there end of July/beginning of August the sea was pretty rough. Families with young children should be very careful as my husband had to rescue a young girl who got into difficulties.
I would agree with the other people who have submitted reviews that the Quads are a menace. You have to have eyes in the back of your head as they are flying about all over the place - they should be banned!
Star Beach on the way to Hersonnisos is about 30 minute walk and is great. It is free entry and you pay for sunbeds parasol. It was 4 euro per bed and 3 for the parasol. There is a water park there and you can also use the beds on the beach.
All in all we had a really good holiday and would definitely recommend the Stelios Stalis apartments.

Stalis was a fantastic place (if not a little expensive) You will be spoilt for choice for places to eat and you certainly lose track of time along the main drag, where there are plenty of shops (where ther's an excellent handbag shop for the ladies) and bars to keep you occupied. It was coming to the end of season so we did run the gauntlet slightly but no worse than any where else Iv'e been abroad, and I only came across one timeshare tout (God how annoying are they!) I cannot reccommend Camelot highly enough for their food and hospitality it was excellent. Also the "dopey buggers" quiz night at the Kaliana was such a laugh we ended up taking up residence for the last three nights of our holiday. If you walk along the beach many of the restaurants offer free sunbeds if you are having a meal or a drink. Malia was ok, but preferred Stalis. The Water Park was quite small but we stiil had a good time.
All in all this was a GREAT holiday, we found hidden jetty's to dive off and go snorkelling and the majority of Greek people are just adorable. We travelled from Humberside with no delay's and the transfer time was 20 minutes and hassle free, which is just what you need at 3.30am.
I have always said I would never travell to the same holiday destination more that once.........However I am seriously thinking of rebooking to go back to Stalis next year.
Advice: Great holiday choice
Activities: Camelot and Kaliana
Good for: Beach
