We have just returned from the above...
2 / 10
Jul 2005, Mr D Mackerness

We have just returned from the above apartments and feel duty bound to warn other families with small children to stay well clear of these apartments through the months of June/July/August. This apartment although billed by Olympic as “very suitable for families and couples”, is completely overrun by teenagers of same sex groups making it the equivalent of your worst 18-30 hotel nightmare. The Olympic rep said it acts an overspill from the two main resorts. We had 10 “lads” either side of us on our floor, a further 12 below us, and we were deemed to be in the “family” block of three!! The barman said you wouldn’t want to know what went on in the other 2 blocks. We were woken every morning between 4AM - 7.30AM by drunken youths singing, swearing, fighting, kicking in doors, pressing our doorbell repeatedly......frightening our children who thought our room would be broken into at any moment. The night porter was apparently “off sick” for 5 of our 7 days there, there was no-where to move us to, and after complaining for the fourth time we were told "What do you expect. this is just young people having fun!!" One Father never saw the funny side when his young children were witness to obscene pornography passed around the pool by the lads. I would urge Olympic to review their description in the brochure, and I would urge anyone seeking a genuine review of this place to look at the ages and marital status of those who have so far contributed.

Me and my boyfriend went to Stelios...

Jun 2005, Miss C Simpson

Me and my boyfriend went to Stelios apartments June - July for two weeks, and have already booked up again for September-we can’t wait.
The accommodation is spot on, we stayed in an apartment and it had all the amenities you could want, if you choose to use them! Although you can opt to have a sea-view room, we had a lovely view from our balcony that looked over the accommodation and to the sea. In Apartments you get two balconies, which is also a bonus. The rooms get cleaned really often, and were always done very well mopped floors, bins emptied, sheets towels changed, beds made. There was plenty of room for all our clothes and other belongings in drawers and wardrobes. There are also key-locked safety deposit boxes that can be hired.
The staff are fantastic, I had always known Greek people to be friendly, but we were blown away by the hospitality of Andréa’s (manager) and the team. They would do anything to help if you were to ask and if you took the chance to get to know them, it was like having friends with you on holiday. I was ill at one point and Andrea’s offered to take we to the pharmacy-which is beyond his job. This man really doesn’t sleep! But has an incredible amount of energy.
Nikos who helps at the bar, does handy work around the place, and also any offer needed job is really nice, he made us very welcome and was really good to talk to.
Costas is the best cocktail barman ever- I think between us Mark and Me made our way through the menu- I’d recommend the Exotic Dream!
The food on offer is also very good, and service fantastic, considering the chefs on his own he gets food out to people in no time! The food is also very good value.
Georgina who works in the mornings at the pool bar is lovely- she remembered our order every time!
The entertainment here is great, poolside games during the day-suitable for all, very very funny, courtesy of Andrea’s! There is bingo most nights, which we loved although won once-the day we left! Karaoke is on Thursdays which is fun or just plain funny to watch, its good to catch glimpses of Nikos and Costas faces at some of the singing!
The Greek evenings held on Sundays are a most- the food provided is traditional and very tasty!
The resort of Stalis is really good, not too noisy-with only a few club type places if that take your fancy. The restaurants are really good-food fantastic. Our favourites were Yannis Golden heart and Amici (Italian).
Overall our holiday was fab. Best holiday I have had.
We’ll be back in September and can’t wait to see the Stelios team again!

The apartments were brilliant; we stayed there in June for two weeks and had the best holiday ever. Andreas the manager was just the best!! He made our stay a memorable one and with his pool games, karaoke and bingo he helped people to get to know one another, which was really nice. The apartments were very clean, well equipped and spacious. The staff are all friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Nikos the waiter is a lovely guy and seemed to work around the clock. Harris, the owner’s son was hilarious and we very much enjoyed his company. (Itsy bitzi teeny-weeny yellow polkadot bikini is his speciality on the karaoke!!!)
My daughter Katie (11) had a fab time and was the pool game champ by the end of our stay there. My other daughter Karla (16) had a great time too. I have to say that we have never met so many lovely people, a big hello to Nathan, Simon, Ken, Jude Gilly Ian and the girls not forgetting Penny and Peter. If you have booked at these apartments you’re in for a treat.
We are definitely going to go back and would recommend it for families and young people alike. The brochure does not do this place justice and it deserves more star ratings, it’s in an ideal location for views over the bay, they are just stunning and watching the sunrise is awesome. Really cannot wait to go back... See you soon Andreas and the team!!!! Love from Susan, Kris, Karla and Katie xxxx

Absolute fantastic place, were only 20 and loved it definitely recommend it staff are so friendly especially Andreas you will see him around 24/7.
The pool is great, the food is excellent you have got to try a club sandwich.
The rooms are fully equipped with all equipment for cooking and the room has air con.
Its a 10 minute walk to the beach and to Stalis where there is lots of shops and restaurants, and its a 10 minute taxi ride to Malia where lots of people go for a night out.
The resort has everything you need Andreas made a special effort for my fiancé’s birthday and got a cake and got everyone to sing it was brilliant thanks Andreas.

Went to Stelios Stalis Apartments on...
10 / 10
Jun 2005, jus_tin

Went to Stelios Stalis Apartments on the 24th June for two weeks. The rooms themselves were a good size, kitted out with everything you need (microwave, kettle, cutlery… etc if you can be bothered to cook). I think over the two weeks the cleaners came in about 7 or 8 times, had a quick clean up, mopped the floors and the sheets got changed 4 or 5 times.
There are two pools on-site, the main one by the bar and restaurant where they had games in the afternoon and another smaller one by the bottom block of apartments, both kept very clean! Andreas the owner is an excellent man, always happy and very approachable should you need to ask or tell him anything.
Be warned though, he likes his karaoke and will always be the first to start singing, and quite possibly the last! Andreas made our stay a warm one, a busy man but always found time to chat. Also while I'm complimenting the staff at Stelios Stalis, George the security guard is a top bloke, he was responsible for making sure all us drunken boys/girls didn’t make too much noise when coming back from a night out, in which he had to carry me to my apartment twice!
He was a very nice bloke and looked after us at night. Most mornings we had breakfast at the apartments and have no complaints about the food or service, they have there Greek nights and barbecues on a Sunday, and set-up other entertainment on other nights (karaoke, magic shows etc).
When venturing out from the accommodation, Stalis town is about 10 – 15 minute gentle walk, and Hersonisos is the same but in the opposite direction. There is a tour bus that runs up and down the road, which you can jump on (not sure how much it costs) or ask at reception to call you a taxi (approx. 5 – 7 euro). Malia as we found out is quite a distance, wouldn’t bother walking as it would take you a good hour or more, taxi there is only 10 euro.
Stalis is full or restaurants, you could probably eat out every night for a week and still have only visited a small majority of them. We spent most of our holiday in the Robin Hood English pub. Got to know the staff well and the atmosphere was brilliant. They’d stay open until the last person walked out (or in my case carried out)! Each night they do a funny quiz, followed by bingo and then usually end up having drinking games up at the bar.
Its all for a bit of a laugh and if you win bingo then that’s basically paid for your night out and probably your next night, winnings can go up to 150 – 180 euros! Mark the barman (small in height but big in personality) took us out the one night for a few drinks when he locked up at 4:30 in the morning. Had a good laugh and got to see some of the places you’d never find in Stalis!
Then there’s Shakey the other barman (and king bingo caller), doesn’t tend to smile all that much but still a quality geezer, could mistake him for Jack Dee with his dry and sarcastic charm but still a funny bloke. Finally there’s Cookie, probably the hardest worker I saw in Crete in my 2-week stay. Chatty and bubbly and helped us out at the end of the holiday, she’s a star! If you fancy your chances and you think your pretty good at table top football, watch the owner play against his mates, then decide if your any good or not!
We’d never seen anything like it those boys can seriously play!!! As for all the other bars and restaurant, unfortunately cant comment as it was only the Robin Hood we spent our time in. One thing you must do is try one the Greek Kebabs (Gyros I think they were called), absolutely gorgeous!!!
The beach in Stalis was beautiful, soft sands and clear blue sea. Sun lounges and umbrella was 5 euros for two. There’s loads of watersports to do as well, we went on the doughnuts and had an absolute scream, just be prepared to drink gallons of sea water and do a couple of mid air somersaults as your catapulted up off the waves!
If I were to make one complaint, this being the only one, it would be the amount of quads and mopeds that race about the place. Everybody has one and they get quite annoying when you have to dodge cars, quads and mopeds as soon as you walk out the apartments. But saying that you kind of get use to them and as dangerous as it sounds, we didn’t see any accidents.
Stalis itself is very couple and family orientated place, you do get your groups of lads and girls buts its nothing compared to the buzz of Malia. Would definitely go back to Stalis and would definitely choose the Stelios Stalis Apartments. The weather was hot, mid 30’s and on a couple of occasions going into the low 40’s. The locals are very friendly and hospitable to all the tourists. To be honest two weeks just wasn’t long enough to cram in everything Crete has to offer,.. the traditional towns, waterparks, excursions, sight seeing, boat trips… just can’t say enough about the place.
All in all a fantastic holiday, the sort of place you just don’t want to leave and the many friends you just don’t want to say good bye to! Going back out there at the first opportunity we get!

Jun 2005, Ms L Lawrence

First of all I am glad that people have put their comments on about the Stelios Stalis as when we booked our holiday we couldn’t find any. I am also pleased that the other reviews have reflected these apartments in such a positive light, as the Stelios Stalis Apartments are AMAZING!!!
My partner and I enjoyed our first holiday to Crete and were fortunate to have stayed in Stelios Stalis *Paradise* :o)
The room we had was huge, extremely clean and very well equipped. All of the staff were friendly and keen to help with any matter.
Andreas has got to be THE BEST hotel manager I have ever come across - unbelievably funny and encourages every body to get involved in pool games, karaoke and bingo! Nikos gets 10/10 for bar/waiter services!!
The hotel itself is within walking distance of Stalis and Malia. I have heard and read the other reviews that it is also near to Hersonissis but we didn’t venture down there.
We found Stalis to be a perfect mix of everything - bars, discos, restaurants, lovely beaches and full of friendly people!
My partner and I are going back to Stelios Stalis in either August or September this year and taking our daughter too!
See you for the karaoke Andreas!!

Jun 2005, Miss C Nicol

We were placed in the Tselios Stalis Apartments after Olympic had sold one of our rooms on our previous booking.
Being such a young group we were in two minds how the holiday was going to go. But to our surprise it was fantastic, Stelio Stalis Apartments played a huge part.
Andreas the manager is fantastic, remembers everybody’s names and always thought of games to get everyone friendly. The food was fantastic, ate there most of the time(strongly recommend the carbonara and chicken ala cream)also really cheap!
All the staff were extremely pleasant and friendly, apartments were really clean and we had a fantastic sea view!
Would defiantly go back! Can’t wait to see all the staff again and have the carbonara! if you are a cocktail fan try the Stelios Special its gorgeous!
Would recommend everyone to go! it is a fantastic holiday! best apartments I have ever stayed in!

Jun 2005, Miss V Parnell

I am a 17 year old who just got back from Stalis in Crete, after spending a wonderful two weeks there.
The Stelios Stalis Apartments are a great place to stay. They are a short walk from the main down of Stalis or a taxi/bus ride from the lively resort of Malia, a taxi will cost you around 5euros and picks you up from the apartments, the bus stop is less then a minute down the road and buses come frequently. The staff at the apartments were very helpful and good fun. There were two pools at the apartments, one, which had pool, games every afternoon and a quieter one round the corner. The staff are always keen to lend a helping hand, whether you want to hire a bike, quad-bike, scooter or a car, or if u have a problem with your apartment. As we were on the ground floor we had a few ants on the first day, but one member of staff came in and fixed the problem for us STRAIGHT away leaving us ant free for the rest of the holiday.
In the evenings the bar is always open with different activities such as bingo and karaoke, which was a lot of fun and laughs. And allows you to meet and make friends with the other people staying there. People of all ages will love to stay here, Stalis is great for families and couples and Malia is great for the younger people. I myself enjoyed going to Malia most evenings but also found that there were a few bars in Stalis that catered for younger people, such as bar bliss. Brilliant holiday I can’t wait to go back

Jun 2005, Mr R Proctor

I may just be the first to submit a review about the Stelios Stalis apartments, which I find most surprising.
Returned from there yesterday following a 10-day holiday at the complex. Top marks to Olympic for selecting the place which deserves far more than a 2.5 * rating. The place is spotless, apartments very clean and spacious with a good number having sea views over Malia Bay.
Excellent restaurant, which serves good food and is inexpensive. All the staff are friendly and speak very good English. Andreas, the manager, does an excellent job in promoting activities and there is usually something going on each day and evening e.g. pool games, karaoke, Greek nights, barbecues etc. I would strongly recommend the Stelios Stalis apartments to anybody.
The brochure is slightly misleading for the better. You can walk down to the beach road in 10 mins not 20mins and Hersonissos is probably only a 10 min walk in the other direction. I really hope other people who have visited or intend to visit the accommodation take the trouble to put a review on this site as they thoroughly deserve a higher rating and more good publicity.

The location of these apartments was...
9 / 10
May 2005, Ms J Robinson

The location of these apartments was the main advantage, the brochure stated 20 mins from the beautiful beach of Stalis but it was a pleasant 10 mins really. The manager, Andréa’s was fantastic and nothing was too much for him, I don’t think he ever slept!!!.
The apartments were faultless, air-con, microwave and we even had English speaking movie channels. Breakfasts were superb with REAL English sausage and back bacon. The evenings were relaxed and Nikos and costas were brilliant, the BEST cocktails on the island! the pool is easily visible from all areas of the bar so kids can really get stuck into having fun.
The two other local resorts of Malia and Hersonissos are close, Malia for nightlife is only 6 euros away. The quiet relaxed atmosphere of these wonderful apartments made you chill out from the minute we got there and I really can’t say enough about the place.
We have never wanted to go back to the exact apartments before anywhere so much as we do to these, first time in Crete and it compares only to Tenerife for the fantastic consistent weather. If you’re there in October we look forward to seeing you and know that you will feel the same. Lets get more Brits there because they cater for us second to none in my opinion, I don’t think I’m the only person to have written from the same holiday as we went on so see what they had to say as well, toodaloo and have a fantastic time.
