Myself and my boyfriend stayed here for a week, the accomodation was pleasantly simple and had everything we needed. It is well situated and surrounded by lots of lovely restuarants and shops and also the weather was gorgeous!!
The only downfall to the holiday was the unhelpful and rude owners of the studios. Dennis and his wife (the owners) couldn't speak very much English, were not welcoming and helpful like it says! There is a beautiful beach just 10minutes walk down the road - but when we got back they would make us spray our feet an before we could go into our appartment. Nobody else was getting this treatment!!
Everyday when we woke up we would open the balcony doors onto the pool and they would walk past and peer in everytime, it felt as if we had no privacy. We were told where to put our suitcases in the room and every time it was cleaned they moved them. This was not too much of a problem but very irritating to be told everyday. It felt as if they were constantly watching us!
The worst thing was that we heard Dennis' wife shouting at him and then he would come and have a word on her behalf, there was a horrible atmosphere as we knew she would be shouting about us.
We tried to not let them bother us too much and enjoy our holiday until one day when eating breakfast on the balcony Dennis said that our beds were a mess and if we didn't tidy them he would charge us!
This lead to a bit of confrotation between Dennis his Wife and ourselves as we just wanted to be left alone - to get on with the relaxing, romantic holiday it was meant to be!
Dennis' wife was shouting in Greek at us infront of the rest of the guests embarassing and itimidating.
By this time we did not spend anytime at the studios apart from sleeping to avoid any other niggles from them!
Fortunatley we were only there a week, if it had of been longer we would of had to move studios..
We still had a great holiday, and it was an amazing place! So Please, if you do go stay somewhere else and definatley do to the mill bar- It will be the best night you have!

I have just returned from the Litsa, I had two weeks there with my six year old daughter. The studios were lovely, better than I was expecting! The bedding and towels were changed often and the room was cleaned every other day. Dennis, Oriana and their son were very welcoming and spoke to us every time we saw them. This is an ideal place for a relaxing holiday, with no music or loud voices to be heard whilst we were there! The only problem I had was keeping a six year old entertained here, (the only reason I didn't award a 10!). It was very HOT during our stay in August and we did'nt always want to venture very far but all other hotels and bars allow you to use their facilities if you buy food or drinks there. The resort is small and friendly, the waterpark trip booked with the rep is cheaper than what it would cost "doing it yourself" as the transport isn't great and the taxis are expensive. The Mill bar at the beach is a MUST.... Like they say don't leave it till the last day. Fab food, fab music and fab Greek night.

We stayed at the Litsa in Alykanas from 16 July 09 for one week. I was very impressed with our room and the place in general. Nothing dingy about this place.
The room has two single beds with light sheets which were changed once during our week long stay. For storing clothes there is a large wardrobe with plenty of hangers, also a dressing table and a bedside table. Our balcony looked out onto the pool and had two chairs, a table and a line for drying clothes on.
The kitchen has a kettle, two cooking rings, fridge, crockery and a large basin. The bathroom has a shower although the head of the shower is handheld and there is no shower curtain. Expect the bathroom floor to get wet, but there is a drain on the floor and it dries pretty quickly.
The poolside is lovely, catching the sun rather nicely. Plenty sunloungers and a bar where you can also purhcase come light snacks. Not too busy at all so if you like it peaceful this is the place to be.
Litsa is not in the centre of Alykanas so you will have to walk a few minutes until you reach the restaurants. The beach is about a 10 minute walk. There is another bar and a small shop at the end of the road though.

We have just returned from a lovely holiday, and have to say that the Litsa was a lovely base for our fortnight there. We had a night flight and arrived at the hotel at 7 am, our room keys waiting in the door for us. By 8 am Dennis the proprietor was sweeping the poolside and waved a welcome to us on our balcony. The whole place was spotless, both Dennis and his wife Oriana take great pride in the studios, even pressure washing the sunbeds at least once a week. There are basic rules around the pool which tend to be enforced by Dennis, but they tend to be common sense. However, woe betide anyone who goes in the pool after the allotted time or walks into the bar area wet! The poolside is swept on a regular basis, the apartments, though basic are clean and tidy, with linen changes every 2-3 days, depending on the cleaners work rota. She was always polite and friendly. We tended to stay out late into the night, as many people do there (it's cooler and more comfortable to eat late!). There is music which tends to drift across from other complexes around Alikanas, but tends to die down after midnight. (The dogs and chickens tend to be noisier!).
The walk into the town isn't very long, and there's a lovely path through the olive groves to the beach. Lots of restaurants mean you can use a different one every night if you want, they're all of a good standard and the prices are all similar.
If you get a car and feel brave, try driving up to the restaurant by the church on the hilltop at Gerakari (you can see it from the Litsa). As well as a lovely meal you can watch the sun go down along the whole length of the Island. Well worth a visit. So is Kampi. For the shortest boat journey to Shipwreck cove, try Porto Vromi. The journey takes about 20 minutes with about an hour on the beach, and a look at the caves on the way back. Beware the loos at porto Vromi!
If you enjoy quiz nights there are plenty going on most nights, especially we enjoyed Christmas at Toady's and Click at Buster's.
We had to leave at the ungodly hour of 3 am and it was well worth the cash to have a room extension. Oriana stayed up to clean it once we left, and Dennis insisted on giving the four of us a bottle of water each for the journey. I hope you enjoy the place as much as we did.

Just got back from the Litsa on 10 July '08 so this review is up to date.
The Litsa is a small family run set of self-catering studio apartments just on the edge of Alykanas. There are only 15 rooms in two 2-storey blocks, and all bar one overlook the pool. The rooms are quite spacious with plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Request a first floor room if possible otherwise everyone else will be able to see right in to your room.
Be warned though. You will have seen in the brochure that there are 'local charges' for extras. Expect to pay extra for safe hire - €15 per week, and the air conditioning is €9 per day - so account for an additional outlay of about €150 if you are going for 2 weeks and like us need the a/c to help keep cool. This will add an extra £125 to the price of your holiday.
The small bar is open virtually all day and night and does limited snacks, and a variety of drinks which price wise are on a par with other places in the town - they also sell ice creams and lollies for €3 each. The pool is nice and the sun beds are free which is good, especially if you've just paid for the a/c. The Rosa apartments are next door and guests there also use the facilities at the Litsa.
The town of Alykanas is quite small, about 1 minute from end to end in a car, but there are some nice places to eat and drink. Turn right out of the Litsa and right again at the main road and you are on the main street through the town. Watch out for bikes and quad bikes as the paths aren't the best. I can very much recommend 'Memories' as perhaps the best restaurant - try the Stifado or Zakinthian chicken and you will not be disappointed. You even get a 1/2 carafe of house wine for free - just order it and of won't be on your bill. The desserts are all home made and are very nice. The 'Alkyonis' is another nice place again with free wine. Be aware that most restaurants will make a cover charge of between €0.60 and €1 for bread and butter. For daytime snacks, try the 'Lagero' just beside the Litsa - €1.50 for Gyros Pitta to eat in or take away which fills a little hole before tea time. The Daily Cafe also does good day time snacks and great crepes to end the evening.
For the more traditional holiday maker, there is Busters Bar and the Tipsy Toad which are Brit owned and cater for that type of crowd.
The beach is a good 10 mins walk from the Litsa down the main street and turn right at the (closed) Greedy Greek restaurant. Sun beds are €7 per day to hire, but if you walk to the far right of the beach you can use the beds of a hotel for free - just buy a drink or a snack and they are happy.
Trips can be booked through the reps, but for better value, go and see Tony at Pelargos Tours (right hand side of street near the Letsos supermarket). His mate Mik next door also does car hire which is cheap and fully insured at no extra charge. We hired a Suzuki Jimny for 2 days and ripped round the island which was great. If you do hire a car then a visit to Dafni beach in the SE of the island is a must. It’s a small beach with free sunbeds and part of the protected national park marine zone as the turtles lay their eggs there on a night. The sea is great for swimming and snorkelling and the water is the warmest we have encountered anywhere in the world.
Overall the Litsa is a basic quiet set of apartments and if you want a relaxing break then I would recommend this place, but beware of the dreaded local charges.

We booked for seven nights from 3rd July 2008 until 10th July 2008 at Litsa Studios, Alykanas, Zante. I have spent two previous very enjoyable holidays in Kalamaki, Zante. We fancied a change in 2008 and a quiet peaceful week in the sun. A quick search of the internet and decided that the “My Travels,” description of “a quiet resort and a perfect destination for a relaxing beach holiday,” sounded perfect, especially after a hard year.
Upon arrival the Litsa seemed everything that was promised, a picture post card setting, and basic, but very clean value for money apartments, a spotless well maintained swimming pool and sun-bed area with a small bar, which happened to be beneath our room, number 15.
The bar closes at midnight we were informed. Not a problem, folks are on holiday.
During the first night (Thursday) we were kept awake until 2.00 am by a single individual of French origin from the adjacent Rosa apartments who we were to find out was a nightly customer of the Litsa bar.
This would not have been a problem for us if the individual concerned had not shouted every sentence she spoke in a loud graveled voice whilst smashing what sounded like a glass off the bar shouting “Yamas” and “Viva le Grek” into the early hours whilst playing what I believe were card games with the owner(s).
A quiet and polite word with the friendly owners and a promise was given that it would not happen again. Great ,Magic! Hey! We only wanted a bit of peace, quiet and sunshine. Just like the advert had promised.
The second night started okay until 00:15 hours when we were awoken by loud “shhhushs” from the individual and her male partner in what was perceived by myself as ridiculing our request. After a few minutes the usual glass banging and loud guttural French which must have been at least one octave below the Salma character from the Simpsons TV show.
Day Three, a quiet word with our rep. Our rep had a word with the owners and again a promise of it would not happen again and the bar would close at midnight.
Not a chance! Come midnight normal service resumed. More banging shouting and lessons in French language until well into the early hours.
By the Monday evening I was forced to pay for air conditioning at 9 Euro’s a night, not for the heat but in order that we would be able to close the doors thus reducing the noise and also masking it with the sound of the compressor. This still didn't do the job unfortunately but it did make things better!
One couple in the complex purchased ear plugs at 6 Euros a set and they had suffered for two weeks.
Every day of our holiday was enjoyable until the midnight hour when the noise problems started. We thought that the fun started at lagana, not Alykanas! ??
Groups of people using the bar were not a problem in any way for us. People were courteous and well mannered having consideration for other residents. The problem was with one long term holiday maker who stays for up to three months every year and her anti social behavior.
The restaurants in Alykanas are good value for money with friendly staff. Most meals costing between 7 and 14 Euros. Good service and good food being the norm.
If you are self catering try to get out to one of the on resort non tourist supermarkets in Zante town (Lidls,Spar, Coop) for your juice and corn flakes, you will save a fortune! An example would be in the price of Corn Flakes – nearly 4 Euros in the tourist supermarket and only 1.35 Euro for the same ones in Lidl!
There are plenty of car hire deals and don’t be afraid to haggle with the vendors who will be happy to be flexible. Quad bikes are popular and you should get one for between 20 and 25 Euros a day. You will save that iin one day if you get to an off resort supermarket for your supplies!
Not a bad holiday generally except for the anti social behavior problems that were not addressed.
Our Thomas Cook rep was brilliant. She was well informed about everything on the island from coach trips to car hire. She was caring, considerate and is a credit to the travel company. She also tried valiantly to sort out the noise problem. Thank You for your efforts Laura. Wwe know you worked hard and tried for us.
Unfortunately, and it’s a shame as the Litsa is a nice venue, I will not risk returning to the Litsa due to my fears of sleepless nights and the risk of picking a week during the annual three month stay of the person responsible for ruining the our holiday.
This would have been a 9/10 but due to the night time disruption and noise I can only give 5/10.
I shall return next year to Kalamaki.

My wife (Jude) and I have visited Greece many times but this was our first time in Zante. The Litsa Studios are exceptionally well maintained and we found the owners, Dennis and Oriana, very pleasant and helpful. The apartments are well located: only a short walk to the shops and tavernas and about 15 minutes to the beach.
Alikanas is a small resort; good food everywhere and the locals are really friendly.
There are some lovely walks through the olive groves and around the coast, and we found plenty to see and do in a week on the island.
We would definitely recommend this for a quiet, relaxing holiday. The boat trip around the island is an experience not to be missed, as is the 'Trainaki'!
Do beware of the vicious mosquitos though...

Me and my boyfriend stayed at these appartments for a week at start of June. The place is spotless, i mean every where. The pool is great and the loungers and umbrellas are free! The staff at the appartments are very nice. Although the appartments were basic we had everything we needed. there was a beautiful balcony over looking the pool. The place is ideal for families or couples as it is quiet and very private. The only thing i would recommend is to take something for mosquitos before you go. i was badly bitten when i was there, they say the Greek islands are renouned for it. it was not the appartments fault because i got them as soon as i got off the plane. you can buy stuff over there but you should see you doctor before you go. i really enjoyed my holiday in Zante it is a beautiful island. The food and drink is cheap and tastes great!! people are great too.

We have just come back from a week at the Litsa apts in Alykanas. This is our second time at this resort but the first time at Litsa. We had a great time here. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing holiday you should go here. For us it was perfect, no loud music played from the bar, perfect for snoozing by the pool. Dennis and his wife were friendly and helpful and would do anything to help. The room was clean and well maintained, views amazing. Around the pool was also clean and looked after. The resort itself is also perfect. Great places to eat and everyone friendly. We got a taxi from the airport which was 22 Euros, between four of us was fine, also meant we were there 90 mins before the bus. We will definately go back next year.

The Litsa Studios are small, but just perfect for a quiet relaxing holiday. I was so pleased when I opened the door to this dear little apartment, it had twin beds a small dressing table, wc and shower room, plus small kitchen, all of which were, as the brochure says, spick and span.
They were cleaned every day, and not just a gesture clean like some places we have stayed in. They have brand new air conditioning units should you need them, just see the owners, Dennis or his wife, they will arrange it for you, you will have to pay them a small charge per night, but its well worth it.
Unlike the last letter posted, we can only praise the treatment we had from Dennis and his family, they were so friendly and helpful, and I’m sure had the last people popped their heads round the door they would have been promptly invited in to join in the game of cards!
Its a family run place, they quite obviously take great pride in The Litsa which is why not only are the rooms spotless, but so is the pool and surrounding area, Dennis is always around with his dustpan and brush! The sun beds were also pressure cleaned during our stay. There is plenty to choose from on the snack menu, we enjoyed freshly made pizza chips etc, perfect for lunchtime snacks.
Alykanas is a small quiet resort, but has many good restaurants; it’s a nice walk to the beach which is also lovely. If you want you can get a pony and trap to take you to nearby Alikes, also very nice.
A trip on the road train is a must, very interesting, great wine!
All in all, we would definitely go again. Happy Hols anyone going soon. Say hello to Dennis for us!

My wife and I have just returned from a week stay at the Litsa(06 june - 13 june). The Weather was fantastic, 35 to 40 deg and a slight south westely wind every day. The beaches are very good, charging 5 euro a day for two sunbeds and an umbrella.Restuarants we would definatly recommend are paradosiako, serving some of the best authentic Greek food ever tasted and psaropoyla(lemon tree),serving the freshest fish possible(even taking me into the kitchin to choose which one I would like.Average cost at both for two were around 35 euro including starters and drinks.Owners of Litsa Dennis and Oriana were fantastic hosts, very house proud and alway's there for help, with Dennis even driving us to some resaurants in the evening because of distance.Could not fault them!
