Been back a week from a great holiday at the Princess. Comfortable room !095 over looking the kids pool. Great food, wonderful staff, particularly the waiters on the terrace.
Plenty to do no need to leave the hotel grounds

First time in this hotel. Excellent choice of food (last week on one day was a Mexican night and the other day a kind of Japanese with sushi), great evening shows and beautiful pools. 15 minutes from the sand dunes (sand can be really hot, so take closed shoes). 5 Euro to Aqualand. Visit Sioux City as it has great shows (from 12PM) and an albino crocodile.
- Advice: Rent a car for a couple of days so you can drive up the mountains. Cicar delivers to the hotel with no extra cost and at the end of your rental you can leave the keys at the reception and a representative will collect the car from there.

We stayed in the Tabaiba princess which is the other half of the hotel, Overall we thought it was pretty good and couldn't complain too much, half of the hotel is all inclusive the other half is half board, alcohol in the all inclusive is only served up until 23:00 and the bar then closes, the other hotel bar is open until midnight but obviously you have to pay! The food was quite nice, although the buffet in the evening seemed to contain mostly seafood.
The hotel itself was totally spotless and everywhere you looked there was someone cleaning, from scrubbing down the sun loungers at night to the skirting board along the hall way's being mopped down! the maid's also came in everyday and left fresh towels if need be.
The only downside was the location, its a good 30 minutes walk to the beach and the beach itself is very rocky when you are in the water, the front promenade has some nice bars/ restaurant's but again you would really need to get a taxi which is about 5 - 10 mins drive. Certainly not the place to go if you are after a lively holiday on your doorstep although the hotel have entertainment at night, most of the show's were quite good. The pool's are kept clean and are fairly large, there is also a beach volley ball court ( just take care not too sit too close though) and mini golf, you have to pay for the mini golf which I think was about 5 eu. I would say overall this is more of a family holiday perhaps with young children, but couldnt
really fault it at all apart from the location

loved this hotel. room was always cleaned.pool, reception and restaurants always clean. only thing which i found a little straining was the distance to anything. The beach was about a 30 min walk and the shops were not much closer. would need to get taxi's to get around. so unless you like a good walk not a great location.

Two hotels sharing the same grounds and some facilities. Some of the lunch bars are all-inc. only ,others pay-only.Brits cannot upgrade to all-inc !Rooms, food and staff are up to scratch, but we and others suffered from an outbreak of norovirus ,which seemed to be played down (hushed up) by the staff. It is as cheap to lunch in the hotel as outside bars, with better service and food quality. At present the local natural beaches have been washed away by the Feb. storm and only shingle/boulders remain,so you may aswell stay in the hotel grounds on its artificial beach !
- Advice: Good, only if virus free

I like the last person cannot rate this hotel to highly we have just returned after our 9th year. standards are still high and have never dropped in all the years we have been going. We seem to meet the same like minded people who like ourselves come back year after year. Perhaps the people who had to get taxis everywhere should have looked at the location of the hotel before booking. The food is excellent and the themed nights fun. The staff in all areas of the Hotel fall over backwards to be helpful. we are already looking at booking for next year so we will not loose out. Mr & Mrs D

just retured from our third visit to this hotel,we gave last year a miss but can honestly say standards have never dropped, on reading the previous review i must say in defence of the staff in the piano bar ,never once did we feel obliged to tip or on any occassion experienced any rudeness the waiters were all very pleasant vey friendly and proffesional especially when they themselves were subject to treatment from rude holiday makers who think they should have special treatment, they are all eager to please and to be honest each time tips were given all were very greatful no matter how large or small the amount they all do a fantastic job . the hotel cleanliness is first class, the pools and grounds of the hotel are kept to a very high standard, the hotel is in a quite area this making it a very relaxing holiday.rooms clean and fresh food very good lots of choice , staff at all levels very polite and friendly,we had a brillant time and will return in the future

We were very disappointed in our holiday this year. A family of 4 with two teenagers. The hotel was in a location where we had to regularly arrange for taxis. We felt the hotel exploited tourists. When we were allocated our rooms we were given two joined rooms. After unpacking and arranging for our safe to be in our room we realised that the door between our rooms and the children did not lock at our side but was lockable from their side. We asked at Reception if someone could come and have a look at it their response was "Swap rooms"! The waiters in the piano bar expected a tip all the time, even when we bought 4 small bottles of water which we were charged just under 8 euros for. The waiters also were very rude and even on one occasion when he felt that he did not get a big enough tip actually bowed to us! On the otherhand we could not fault the restaurant and their staff who were all excellent. If you want to go for a relaxing holiday it is not somewhere I would recommend. We could not get a sunbed unless we got up before 7.30 a.m. We began to notice that several members of the same families were hogging the sunbeds some in the sun and some in the shade for when they wanted a break from the sun. Although the brochure mentions mini golf, they charge 5 euros per person to actually play. The tiles on the swimming pools also were broken in some places and all of us at some time cut our toes on the sharp edges. The gym was also not up to much and dirty and smelly. We also found the Thomson reps were unhelpful, not really having much time for us as we were not interested in the excursions (which were overpriced) as we had hired our own car and wanted to tour the island on our own. The Blanket Trip was just a total waste of a day of our holiday. We were told we would be taken on a free trip to see how blankets were made and to visit some caves where canarians still lived to this day. We were taken by coach to a room some where - who knows - to be given a 2 and a half hour talk on why we should buy a new mattress. The chap stood and spoke to us in an overcrowded room with a mattress in front of him telling us about how wonderful this mattress was and the savings we would make if we bought it there and then and we were unable to make the same savings once we got home. A total JOKE!
I would not recommend this holiday to anyone. If you get the chance to book elsewhere please think about it seriously. The reason I give this an overall rating of 2 is that this goes to the restaurant and their staff - Well done to them.

I think Maspalomas Princess is a lovely hotel! We go EVERY year without fail and we have not been dissapointed once! It is always clean and the staff with, without a doubt, go out of their way to satisfy your every need. There is always plenty of choice with food and the entertainment in the hotel grounds consists of numerous pool tables, table tenis, a gym, a childrens club, daily evening shows put on, music, etc etc...The hotel is about a 30 minute walk to the beach but on the way is shopping centres and nice scenery. Taxi's are always avaliuable from outside the hotel so there is easy access to the water park, or any other places on the island. Within the hotel there is a trip organiser and i would strongly recommend going on the Garbo's trip...it is a night out to a theatre, where you eat your dinner and the waitors and waitresses are the actors and singers...it is a good night out for everyone (family or couples)
Overall, we love Gran Canaria and will keep going back! ((we are going in2 days - i cant wait))

fantastic hotel, but the location was poor....
taxi rides to go anywhere interesting..
the kids mini disco was a joke-only 25 mins long with the same songs every night.
the waiter service was also very poor,if you didn't tip them they was very rude towards you.
also on our last night there at HAPPY HOUR!!!!
we noticed on two occasions that the waiters would take glasses back to the bar, with some beer stiil left in the glasses & the bar man would pour half pints & top them up with the beer that people had left!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(DISGUSTING)
not what you would expect from a platinum hotel????
okay for older couples, because the entertainment for children is very very poor...

We went in june and this is a lovely hotel, very clean and the staff are all marvellous. Bit away from the sea and clubs but taxis only 3 euros to get there, so its a quiet hotel. Meals are brilliant with lots of choice, but you must have long trousers on if your male to have your evening meal, which are all buffet style and as much as you want, but you do need to buy drinks at night. Entertainment was good with a junior disco and two acts each night, the magician was brilliant. All the pools are clean and not too cold, with snack bars all around the pools, all the staff speaking english to some degree. No downers really but if you want a trip see if you can do it yourself as the costs with thompsons was quite high.Good trip is the local market on saturday and wednesday morning, and whatever you do haggle or you will spend a fortune, lots of gold and silver, fake rolexs bit not much tat. Get a taxi to here and ask for san fernando market, about 3 euros.
Great hotel and would go back again, we travelled with our 7 year old.

My wife, 10-year-old son & I were refugees from an appalling nearby villa (Thomson get a big fat zero for that, we had to make our own arrangements and they're refusing to pay the hotel bill) and this hotel turned disaster into delight. Not crowded when we went, possibly slightly less fun if it is. All the facilties were spotless, the food excellent, the service crisp - noteworthy that the waiters, criticised elsewhere on this site, were all of more mature years and thoroughly attentive whether tipped or not. The pools are great and the entertainment good (if at times a little cringe-worthy). A lot of like-minded friendly families and couples of all ages and many were very satisfied repeat visitors. Little of interest near the hotel - we had (and would recommend) a hire car - and the hotel drops a point for that. The aircon in the room was feeble but that's pretty much it on the down side. We missed it the moment we left.
