On arrival at the hotel, we were very pleased, the hotel looked stunning compared others we had seen when dropping people off on the bus.
Our room was extremely clean, and the beds were comfy. We paid extra for the pool view room which was definitely worth it. The pool area looked gorgeous at night, and it was very relaxing to get a drink from the downstairs bar and drink it on the balcony.
The food was nice, but not a lot of variety between the days e.g.: a form of potato, meat, vegetable. Lots of salads, ice cream, bread soup etc.
Men must wear long trousers for diner (which my partner did not bring), which I was not aware of, but the maitre’d was understanding about this, and he could wear cropped combats.
Although the hotel was isolated, it meant a day by the pool was very quite and relaxing. lots to do at the hotel, mini golf, football pitch etc. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Melonaras, a very modern and well kept town with good shopping and a short 5 minute taxi drive approx, 5 euros to playa del ingles.
I would definitely visit this hotel again.

We stopped at this hotel and found the Thomson reps tell lies to cover up mistakes in bookings. The Gran Canaria staff blame the UK and when we arrived home the UK staff blame the Gran Canaria staff.
We found the hotel to be not up to standard, the springs poke out of the mattresses and it is 3 stories high yet we were charged £3 per night for a high room but were not given one as they were all gone when we arrived, after speaking to some guests we found that some had a high room and where not even charged for it.
The shows are good but do not start until 10pm, until then you have children running everywhere.
The hotel is miles from anywhere with very little shops locally, this hotel should not be graded as a 5 star, it is more a 2 to 3 star.
I will never travel with Thomson holidays again nor would I recommend them.

Myself, 1 year old baby,8 year old son, my wife and mother in law went from 23rd jan to feb 6th.
On the whole very good relaxing holiday, but weather was not up to its usual best!!!.. Had a few rainy half days!!
Hotel... Found very friendly staff who made a fuss of the kids.
The food was ok i would say, but after 2 weeks got a bit fed up of it (well cant beat English dinners can you)
The pools were cold, but clean.
On the night they have a regular group from 8 till 8.45 the mini disco for the kids. Next regular group again then main act from 10 till 11pm, then group again!
Some of the shows i thought were quite good, and required audience help.
Rooms clean and maid service everyday. No kettle in room but small fridge
Activities during the day as well!!
Not many 16 to 30 year olds there, don’t go if your that age, but great for other ages!!
20 min walk to the beach... Which was nice!!
Last word if your going soon... You will enjoy it... I’m sure!!

This was the 6th time I have stayed at this Hotel . The kids love it cos there is plenty for them to do.
We don't have to worry about where they are cos there are always plenty of kids their age. The rooms are in the process of being refitted so there was quite a bit of noise but who sits in their room all day anyway. The staff are all friendly and will always say hello. Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis.
Food was great always plenty to choose from. Pools were very cold though which was a bit of a shock . Evening entertainment needs to change , it has been the same for years. Think a Disco for the Adults after the kids mini Disco would be a good idea. Not happy about the No Smoking policy in the Hotel. This I think has put alot of people off.
I think Its a lovely place to go and its a shame there are too many people spending their Holiday finding things to moan about instead of having fun. We will b going again later in the year.

We usually go long haul and exotic for our holidays but having now got a 5 month old in tow we opted for near and easy. We had certain 'expectations' of the Canaries and were pleasantly surprised by the ease and service afforded by this holiday.
The Platinum Service meant that we were dropped off first on the coach and picked up last so we didn't have to sit going around the other hotels.
The hotel was very clean, bright and airy. Having a small baby we were placed on the ground floor making it easier with the pram. The room was large enough and the cot was adequate with appropriate bedding. The housekeeping was excellent every day but one. The food was surprisingly good for a buffet. The staff were extremely friendly and just love children (receptionists were a bit rude though).
The entertainment was very good for children. We did purposely book this hotel because of its 'heated pool' as advertised online, and were really looking forward to taking the little one in the pool. It was not very heated though and meant we couldn't take him in it. I did complain about this as I felt we were misled (we would have booked elsewhere in this case) but the reps weren't interested and fed me a load of nonsense to bide me over until the reps changed over.
We enjoyed this holiday but wouldn't fancy it in high season. The atmosphere definitely changed when more people arrived, and the sunbeds would definitely be a problem as some of the Germans were up at the crack of dawn (I heard them at 5am when I woke with baby) reserving 2 sunbeds each for when the sun moved around. I don't have any problem with removing towels from reserved beds though!
I would recommend for families with small children for the off-season.

Stayed in this hotel over xmas 2005. Had stayed in Platinum hotels before but was extremely disappointed with this one. The room needed major refurbishment, it was old and dusty ,the glass coffee table was chipped. The bed linen was old and faded and the room never appeared to be c leaned properly, add to this the hot buffet food was never properly hot. my son was ill on holiday with a stomach upset, after reading some of the reviews was this a coincidence.
we found the reception staff unfriendly, when my son lost 2 euros in the pool machine he was told he should have known it wasn’t working even though there was NOT an out of order sign on it. I would rate this hotel no higher than a 3 star!
I hope to return to Gran Canaria soon but certainly not to the Maspalomas Princess.

We have stayed in other Platinum hotels in the past and this is definitely not up to the standard of those. My advice is if you want a relaxing and peaceful hotel, do not go here. The rooms were clean and spacious enough but if you are allocated a room on the first floor on arrival, change it! You will be kept awake if you decide to go to bed before midnight by the 'boom boom' noise from the entertainment lounge.
The nightclub should be re-named the 'creche club' as children ran riot and it wasn't possible to dance on the dance floor, in fear of being knocked over. I know this is down to the parents controlling their children but the hotel should enforce some kind of cut off point in which children should not be allowed in the nightclub. The piano bar entertainment was poor - we have enjoyed excellent music in other Platinum hotels and were really looking forward to this part of our holiday but it was out of tune most nights - singing and playing!
The food was ok'ish but my husband was very sick on our last day after eating sausages for breakfast and having read some comments on this page, I now wonder if it was down to the food?
We did find all the staff helpful and friendly especially in the bar areas but because the restaurant is so packed out, most of the staff look like they are on the verge of a breakdown.
We certainly will NOT be returning here!

Overall a good place for a 1 week winter break. Large hotel with lots of facilities and everything on hand. This is our 2nd time back, but we were disappointed with the fall in standards. As said by others the dining room is too hot and plates not cleared etc. The bedrooms are in need of re-vamping.
The entertainment is not the best ever and even the kids club lacked the oomf it had a few years ago. The place is trying out all inclusive for the Germans and everyone is suffering. However, if you can get a cheap deal and the weather is good this is still not bad for a family holiday. Aqualand is only 4 euros up the road and great fun.

Me and my fiancé booked this holiday through the "Thomson Platinum" brochure, and were looking forward to a relaxing break. Unfortunately this holiday was anything but relaxing, definitely not worthy of the title platinum. When we arrived in our room, the place was caked in dust and there were ants and flies everywhere, the furniture was falling to bits and there was broken glass on the balcony.
We went to the Restaurant for dinner at around 9pm, and everything was stone cold. The waiting staff were very unfriendly, the cutlery and glasses had food and lipstick on them. Me and my partner suffered food poisoning as a result (as did quite a few guests), when we complained about this the restaurant manager was very rude and told us that he was "not interested". Our rep didn't go out of her way to help us either.
My Advice: NEVER BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!!

What a beautiful hotel. The pool area was stunning with plenty of space. The resturant was very clean with a wide range of food on offer. What was most impressive was while you eat, you had the sight of water falls through the clear glass.
The service was first class even had our luggage picked up at the hotel to save having to check in at the airport on the way home. The staff were extremly friendly and helpful. Plenty of entertainment in the hotel.
The resort was also very nice. It was a 30 minute walk to beautiful sand dunes with miles of space. There were also lots of places to shop. It was only a short taxi ride to Playa del Ingles.
This hotel really suits people wanting a relaxing holiday, my girlfriend and myself have booked up for next August. Roll on August

Yet again another wonderful holiday, this was my 5th visit! The hotel is clean and has beautiful surroundings. The staff were happy to help, and the bar staff were very quick and friendly. The food was excellent as usual. The entertainment programme was good, especially the acrobats.
The room was clean and spacious, however the furniture slightly worn, but while there I saw new furniture arriving and work being done in some rooms. It was still to a high standard though. The only slight downside this year was the no smoking policy, not a problem around the pool bars, but the inside piano bars and entertainment bars had a very small smoking section, which in the piano bar was shoved round the back of the bar out of sight of the piano player (Sergio was great) and in the entertainment bar was right at the front meaning you could not get a good view of the stage.
I understand the need for a non smoking section but they should be larger (as there were so few tables you rarely got a seat as those sections are very busy) and not hidden in the corner either! Not sure when the policy came in but did not have this problem last year.
However I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great holiday.
I am moving to Gran Canaria this year but will still stay there with my family every year!
