We went to the Hotel Continental as a family of 3 with a 12 year old daughter. Check in was quick and easy after an hours transfer from Palma airport.
The rooms are very clean and the maid comes in every day to change linen and towels. You have a TV in the room if you want to watch the news at any point or fancy watching the Simpsons in German. Some people have complained that the rooms are small, but I don't think that they are. They are just regular rooms. Nothing at all wrong with them in my opinion.
It is true about the dirty carpets in the public areas of the hotel. Looks like someone has gone on the rampage with red wine! They are grim, but hey ho you're on holiday and nobody is asking you to eat off them.
There are plenty of sun loungers by the pool so if you get up at a reasonable time you should be able to get one. The beach is only a short walk away. Some people have complained in their reviews that you have to cross a "very busy road." You do have to cross a road, but there are zebra crossings and cars do stop for you. Nothing really to moan about. When you get to the beach it is brilliant. The water stays shallow for around 100 meters and there are few big waves (if any).
The drinks are largely self service which cuts down any waiting around at the bar. The same goes for the ice creams. You have to pay 0.50 euros for a plastic cup at the bar. This is only a deposit though and you get it back when you take your cup back.
The snack bar is open from 12-5pm and is pretty much the same everyday (burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, salads, chips, fried onion, bread, samosas etc). You can have it as healthy or as unhealthy as you like! Keeps you going til tea time.
The swimming pool is on the cold side which is fantastic. Why would anyone want a warm pool when it is 30 degrees in the sun? Just jump in and you'll be glad of it.
The Entertainment Team run activities for children and adults throughout the day. They have water polo, football, darts, suffle board, water aerobics, killer pool, rifle shooting etc. If you are on a winning team then you are presented with a certificate in the evening before the entertainment begins! Quite funny really.
Once a week you have the opportunity to try a free session of scuba diving in the pool too if that is your thing.
The food in the restaurant is not fantastic. It is not terrible either though. You will probably, like us, start off your holiday enjoying the food and wondering why it got poor reviews. If you go for 2 weeks though, you will begin to get bored of the unimaginative, bland choices on offer. There is quite a lot of "fillers" too where the hotel have filled a space on the buffet to make it look like there is more. For example, random bowls of sauces. 2 sides of the buffet are identical to each other too!
However, there are days when you can be surprised. One day there was baked salmon which was lovely. Also, at breakfast you can have as much watermelon and fresh fruit as you like. I'm assuming you will get bored of deep fat fried sausages and streaky bacon.
Don't bother going for the buffet lunch in the restaurant. There really is no point. Lunch is the worst of the 3 meals at the continental park. It is very random dishes and nothing appears to go together! Stick to the snack bar.
Your room does not have a fridge which is annoying. You can rent one though for 4.5 euros a day (63 euros for 2 weeks haha)!
The entertainment follows a set pattern. Kids disco. Then bingo and then the "main event." It is hit and miss really. The illusionist/magician who came in was very funny. He got people involved and without spoiling it for you, he made some guests look like complete idiots (all good natured though). Elvis was funny as he knew he was rubbish himself and sang every song apart from Elvis songs! At one point he even said "give a big shout if you dont want me to be here!" Haha, he got a good response.
The majority of the shows that the Entertainment Team put on look like they took time to plan and rehearse, but they are rubbish to be honest. Do you want to watch teenagers mime and prance about? Catch 22 situation as you are all inclusive, but will want to go elsewhere in the evenings.
At night there are no snacks so you will see alot of people going to get take away pizzas or Burger King when the entertainment has finished (especially those who have been making the most of the all inclusive bar ha).
If you have very young children or want to have an early night, make sure that you request a room that is NOT facing the pool. You will be kept awake until the early hours with the music etc. You will have a nice view of the moutains too.
If you want to use Wi-fi the hotel will give you the password for the hotel next door (200m away!) so the signal is awful if you manage to get one at all. You can use the hotels 3 computers at 1 euro for 10 minutes.
The hotel is perfect for families. Children will love it! There are things going on all day to keep them entertained. If you plan to go out then then ask at reception for a packed lunch the day before. Each packed lunch comes in a big box with a handle. Very nice. It is easy to rent a car too (just book it in advance). All you need is your driving license and you can drive away in 5 minutes with a car for the day for 30 euros up to 80 euros depending on what you want.
Overall, it is a 3 star hotel and rightly so. It is a nice hotel and you can have a very nice holiday here.

My family and i have just returned from staying at this hotel. We stayed for 2 weeks, after reading through a few of the reviews before we went we were a bit anxious about staying here, however we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms are a little small but we coped with it and wouldnt say it became a problem to us, athough there is no hairdryer. The entertainment was very good and there was always something going on in the day and evening, the entertainment staff worked very hard to please eveyone. The food was on a 3 star quality and was fair, i seemed to struggle in the last few days of the same kind of food but wouldnt say it was a massive problem. The hotel is geered up for families and there is plenty going on to amuse the kids with. On the whole the hotel is of a fairly good standard and we enjoyed our stay there.

A very clean (except for stained (not dirty) carpets in the communal areas), a well run hotel. Great for young families as the entertainment was very family orientated. Pool could be bit bigger but then again, I could be lot smaller! it never felt overcrowded though. A good entertainments team, worked their socks off to please and catered for all ages with fun and games. Food was of an acceptable standard and drinks in the bar were self-service lager, wines, soft drinks and slushies...and...help yourself icecream tubs, bar service for spirits and cocktails. 5 minutes to a great and safe beach, short bus/taxi to Alcudia Port and the beautiful historic Alcudia town. We are 2 fortysomethings with a 19 and 22 year old...we all loved it !!

We have just returned from 2 fabulous weeks - no sign of any scumbags or chavs!
This is a good value 3* hotel which is kept very clean. Yes, the rooms could be bigger, but do you really go on holiday to sit in your room?
The food was quite well varied and well cooked with a nice section set aside for younger children.
The poolside does not open until 9.00 so there is no need to get up at 4.00am to get a sunbed. Again this area is kept really clean helped by the deposit return glasses so no plastic cups are left to blow around.
The entertainment team led by Stein are really enthusiatic and the kids loved them.
Every family in hotel seemed to have a great time - a word of warning though this is geared to families (used to be Thomson Superfamily)so if you don't have kids it might be one to avoid!

My husband, 4 year old and myself have just returned from a weeks holiday. I was a bit dubious the closer I got to going but had nothing to worry about once I arrived.
The Good bits: The hotel is spotlessly clean, rooms cleaned, beds made and towels changed every day - a bath towel and hand towel per person. There is self service for wine, beer, soft drinks, slushes, hot drinks and ice cream all available from 8am until midnight. THe bar opens at 10am for spirits and cocktails etc. Although the pool was small for the hotel it was never overcrowed and there were always beds available at poolside. The Entertainment team worked their backsides off and did there best to put on good shows (some of theirs were better than the outside entertainers that came in). There was plenty of activities during the day for all ages to take part if they wished. The restaurant was clean and plentiful, you could always find something to eat (even for my fussy 4 year old). The beach was less than 5 min walk and lovely.
The not so good bits: The rooms and balconies were small and the balconies were walled so you couldn't sit down and see the view! But we were hardly there so no big deal. If I was there for more than a week I think the restaurant could get repetative (as was breakfast every day). Beware there is no food available after 8.30pm when the restaurant closes, we ate after 7.30pm every night and found we didn't need anything else and it would probably just have been piggery if we did! (a wee packet of tea biscuits in our room helped for a wee nibble before bed with my bedtime hot chocolate!)
The bad bits: NONE
This is great for couples and families that want a nice relaxing holiday with no rowdyness. All entertainment is finished for 11pm but bar still open - although we were always back in our room not long after 11pm.
Can't comment on outside entertainment and pubs cause we never went!

Hotel is kept clean. That is the only plus point. Pool far to small for the size of the hotel. If you are a chav or on a prison tag you'll probably love it here. We are a respectable family and just 2 days into our 2 week break wanted to come home!! If you like resorts full of English and Irish bars and of course the above mentioned type of people, then go ahead and book. Would never recomend this holiday to anyone.

the food was great but they always seemed to have chips, the breakfast was the same everyday. the rooms were ok, but small and the beds were alittle uncomfortable. We enjoyed it by the pool, even though it was cold! the beach was only a short walk away, there were loads of different tours you could go on, some were free, others very expensive! the buses were very packed, we were squashed when we go on there and we were nearly falling out of the door, but as a whole the holiday was great!

Ok here we go..... I went to Continental Park this August with my cousin and 5 children ages from 16 to 8.
Rooms are small but clean, fresh towels every day, but im sorry so say they are nat's in the bedding... we got bitten badly, and we wasnt the only family to complain about the bedding. Maids on our floor (5th) were lovely.
Breakfast starts at 8 and finishes at 10, nice, hot, but same every morning. snack bar opens at 11 and closes at 5, same food every day, and every thing is deep fat fryed....you can go in for lunch from 1 -3, but you mustnt be wet from the pool, food very same to dinner, i think left overs from the night before.... dinner starts at 6 and finishes at 8:30. again nice, hot, but very boring.... the good thing was with having 5 children with us, chips are on the menu every night......
Drinks are great every think going from water to hot chocolate, and you can just help yourself all day long....
The only thing i think the hotel should change is, after 8:30 at night NO MORE FOOD TILL BREAKFAST, and having children with you, who get hungry about 10, its a nightmare, i think the dinner sitting should be open to 10:00....
Pool area is lovely, loads of sunbeds, nice and clean. The only thing is it needs music playing something to listen to, as your popping up your tan... i missed hearing the Kings Of Leon 20 times a day with Sex on Fire, like we do on Heart FM at home....
The hotel entertainment staff were lovely, they were on the go all day long, kids club, games in the pool, football, darts, shooting, and then they do an evening program also.... do they every sleep, if they do its not for long... 100% goes to them.
Matthew the Thomson rep, was lovely, very helpful...nice fella.
Evening enterainment.. where do i begin... mini disco for the kids was fun, Then it's bingo, where you can win money for a line or full house. Then the team do an act... Saturday night fever is a must, the fella in the white suit... well it's off white really, badly needs an iron and is baggy at the crouch... but we found him so funny... and if you like the Bee Gee's your love it.
We will Rock you, is odd.. but again if you like Queen, you will love it...Men V Women is good fun, holiday mums and dads take part, and have to do funny acts, dancing, singing, etc etc...and then 3 nights a week outside enterainment is brought in....shame we went home on the Sunday morning, as that night is was Tom Jones....(not the real one)and god knows what he would of been like...
Beach is lovely, goes on for miles....and you can walk right out in the sea.... banana boat ride 10euro's each, the kids loved it... great fun...
Trips out are arranged by Matthews, we went to the Water park, very busy and you have to queue at least 40 mintues for every ride....but we had a laugh...
We jumped on the bus on our last night, and went to Linekers Bar, if you are into football you will love it...
Loads of photos, and loads of football shirts, to look at. bar staff are cheeky, but good for a laugh....
We had a wicked 10 days, great fun and loads of laugh....xxx

We stayed here and thought it was better then last time, the carpets still need changing and the rooms are slightly small however unlimited soft/alcohol/water/slush puppies all help yourself unlimited shorts and they give good measures but you have to ask at the bar, unlimited ice cream in little tubs (chocolate/vanilla/strawberry and cream and hazelnut), popcorn machine is 1 euro but it is quite a big box, 2 swimming pools (which could be warmer) great entertainment day and night especially kids disco.5 minutes walk to beach with golden sands.shops 5 minutes away, new tv in room (20 euros deposit only 3 english channels though),food okay good choice though and buffet from 1200-1700 (burgers/hot dogs/chips/cakes etc),transfer time around 45mins-90mins depending on when you get dropped/picked up,will definitely go back again.
