Continental Park Hotel, Alcudia, Spain
Hotel Information
Hotel Description:
These apartments are special because... ...the stunning eight mile stretch of golden sand beach, the longest in Majorca, is just across the road. The Continental Park offers a good standard of accommodation with centrally controlled air-conditioning. However, the vast range of activities run by the Thomson Superfamily team will mean that you will hardly ever be in your room.Nearby Hotels Viewed by Other Travellers

" Great Holiday for Families with Kids "
Submitted By: LolaPagolaThe Pros
Food - excellent with a wode variety (can't beleive the bad reviews this hotel has sometimes received for food - there must be some fussy perople out there! However I can't beleieve the amopunt of people there who never used the dining room in the day - just the snack bar - which isn't great) Every meal time there was salads fish a couple of meat dishes a pasta dish, vegetables, potatoes (of some variety) and chips - along with several desserts, Ice cream cheeses and dries fruits. Breakfasts included freah fruit cereals full english & continental. We ate there the majority of our stay. Tables cleared quickly and politley at all times.
Cleanliness - there is ALWAYS someone cleaning at the Continental park. Very clean (though the number of children there makes this a requirement - some are very disrespectful of the facilities) Rooms were cleaned every day with a full change of towels and bed linen every other day
Reception - very helpful thanks especially to Sue, but also Margharita et al.
Bar - wide variety of drinks in very generous measures. Thanks Hassan Pepe Maria et al.
KIds Entertainers - Although Thompson had its own whp were good - the hotels own were excellent. Stein, Jasmine & Sabine worked very hard fpr the whole 2 weeks we were there, organising various competitions such as water polo, pool aerobics etc. Some events for adults too. The Mini disco every night was repetative BUT that's what little kids love - to learn a dance and show that they know what to do - they loved it. Great entertainers - Thanks guys.
Pool - very clean area, no access before 9am to stop people reserving beds (great)
Alcudia itself is a bus rida away and is lovely though the beach accross the road from the hotel is lovely, lots of alternative places to eat round & about
Trip Recommendations - Palma, Valdemossa (both not particularly for kids) and the PPirates shoe in Magaluf (for Kids & Adults alike). I was concerned that this shw was over hyped (we paid 70 euros per adult for coach travel & show including meal and unlimited drinks with Cava) Hoever I would not have missed it for the world - it is a truly amazing show and loved by all in our party from 7-67 years. No wonder it has been packing them in for 20 years!
Cons
Rooms are cramped if you have more than 2 in them as we did - but after all the room is only for sleeping in - if you are enjoying your holiday there is no need to linger in there.
Some of the evening entertainment wasn't great (though there were a couple of tribute acts and a comedy magician who were very good) Bingo every night but never lasted more than 15 mins
Air con was occasionally on the blink, but not often
Would recommend this to families unless you are the burger & chips variety - if you don't love your food (I mean in a variety way rather than volume) you will feel ripped off
Advice: Old towm market Sun/Tues
Activities: The Pirate show in Magaluf
Good for: Beach

Submitted By: joel0808there r a couple of things that could b improved on like no refreshments at all available between 12am n 8am. not even a glass of water. the bar staff r freindly but they kick u from around the at 5.30 they just grap ur things n plonk them on the tables and then again at midnight which wasnt always a bad thing wen on a family holiday. ur not allowed 2 put ur towels on the sun beds n leave them the hotel staff walk around checkin n take unattened towles to reception n u cant get anywhere near the pool till 9am. the food is so so the majority was fine but meats were very fatty n u dont get much of a choice. alcudia isnot 20 mins walk its more like 45 but its a nice walk down the beach or a short taxi ride that costs about 6 euros.
i no its sounds like were moanin but there just little things that niggle at u.
the staff r helpful n friendly the hotel is clean n pretty modern. overall we had a gud time n would mayb consider returnin

" Absolutely Fantastic Family Holiday "
Submitted By: goynsyTHE HOTEL:- was great. It is an extremely clean and modern hotel with very friendly staff. The hotel is cleaned all through the day from very early in the morning. As an early riser with a pool view i used to watch the lads cleaning the stage and pool areas and they were very very thorough!
THE ROOMS:- were absolutely fine! though some people were moaning that they were small my opinion is that they were just right. If your going to be living in your hotel room why go on holiday??? The cleaning staff did a cracking job. We had clean sheets and towels every day and you could choose whether or not to have your room made up by just hanging a door hanger outside saying yes or no. we chose to have ours made up every day and they never let us down. they are also very pleasant and willing to help with anything.
THE FOOD:- I was concerned also about the food reviews i'd read ie: pork pork and pork! What a load of rubbish. Every day for breakfast there was a choice of cereal, fruit, yoghurts, full cooked breakfast, toast, rolls, croissants. For lunch you could choose between eating in the main dining hall or at the snack bar near the pool. in the dining hall you would find soup, rolls, fresh salad, meat, fish, veg, potatoes or chips and then a huge selection of deserts including fresh fruits, cakes, ice cream, cheesecakes, hot pancakes. at the snack bars you would find chips, fish, burgers, sausage, rolls, salad and cheeses. there is also an ice cream machine should you want a pudding!!
With regard to drinks the variety was amazing. at each meal and whenever you wanted you could choose between several different teas and coffees. (tip: the packet with breakfast tea on it tastes very much like our own british tea). Also there were several pops, different juices, milk, slush puppies, water, wine, lager....and so on.
THE POOL AREA:- was always clean and tidy. The staff at Continental Park have a policy that you are not allowed through to the pool area until 9 am. This prevents people getting up at 4 am to claim sunbeds! Brilliant idea!
ENTERTAINMENT:- was different every night and is spot on for the kids up to probably the age of 12. although my son enjoyed the entertainment he was obviously too old to get involved and i do feel that maybe the hotel could cater for the older teenager ie 15, 16, 17 year olds.
LOCATION:- was great. Literally a 5 min walk to the gorgeous alcudia beach, which i might add is spotlessly clean and very safe. it was just lovely. The shops are just around the corner and go all down the main road strip.
CIGARETTES AND TOBACCO:- You can bring back 3200 cigarettes (16 sleeves) and 60 pouches of tobacco per person. REMEMBER THO, that you cannot buy cigarettes on the plane either going out or coming home.
POSITIVES:- Overall a cracking family hotel and a really lovely resort. A family would really enjoy a stay at the Continental Park. WE DID!
NEGATIVES:- If i were to criticise anything it would be that there are no kettles in the rooms so i'd advise you to take a travel one with you. We are early risers and had to wait until the dining room openend at 8am for a drink. (The hotel reception staff however let us nip in around 6ish if they'd opened early for guests leaving as they provide a cold breakfast).
The snack bar floor gets very very slippy with people walking in and out for food and drink from the pool area so be very careful!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS (were going back next year so see you there)!!!
Advice: Alcudia is so clean and tidy. The beach is lovely, clean and tidy. Its a really nice resort.

" As we regularly stay in 4* hotels and... "
Submitted By: Mrs N DaleThe plus sides of the hotel are it is extremely clean, there is a vast array of food at breakfast, lunch and dinner and the all inclusive basis for unlimited drinks, ice-creams and snacks were excellent. All the staff were professional and helped you to no end. There were cleaners constantly cleaning around the hotel and rooms were cleaned daily.
However, what I did notice with other guests has put me off attending this hotel again. Some guests did not respect the hotel or others. On several occasions during our week stay, there were spilt drinks left on the floor and on the carpets, and people making excessive noise/laughing/talking extemely late which, as a family hotel, was really annoying when trying to keep a 3 year old asleep. Yes, you are there to have a good time - but there was no need to make the noise that we experienced or to leave the mess that they did!! The other down-side was the scraping of the chairs from cleaners/staff in the bar last thing at night (midnight) and first thing in the morning (7am) when you are on the first floor, we heard every chair scraped so no lie-ins.
The beach is extremely close and is excellent!!

Submitted By: Mrs Lesley ParkerWe had alovely holiday and nothing was to much trouble for the staff. rooms too small and bunk beds were to high we had them took down which was safe but no room left.
Food was good with lots of choice we enjoyed a very healthy menu.
Drinks were self service and though not top wine was drinkable.
Entertainment was very repetative and really needs improving but if you been busy all day you are ready for bed at 11.30pm some shows good others terrible
Kids clubs excellent and the children were safe within the complex around the pool and play areas. Beach nearby and really lovely shallow sea.
sun beds a pain with people resrving them and not being around to use them.
I found staff and the rep helpful . The air conditioning was terrible it stopped when it wanted and often took ages to repair. This was one of the best holidays we had as a family very relaxing would recommend a family holiday here.
" Arrived back from this hotel... "
Submitted By: Mr R SummersThis hotel is ideal for families as the kids entertainment is excellent throughout the day with a kids mini disco every night, but if you do not like children this hotel is not for you as this hotel is full of them.
The night entertainment is avarge with a few good acts, but could be improved.
Overall, we had a fantastic time with this last minute booking.

Submitted By: Miss E J GoughI would deffinetly reccomend this hotel to others, and im looking into returning there again in a few months (:

The rooms were alright, but there were only 2 of us in each room, others did complain about crowding when 3 or more in a room. Sleepless nights were common, noises included loud snoring through paper thin walls, television until early hours of the morning and to top it all scrapping of chairs across the tiled floors (Question, how many times in 1 night can a chair be dragged across a floor?, Answer, in the Hotel Continental, as many as they liked.)
The hotel was not Brit friendly especially the dining/cleaning staff. No one smiled or made you feel welcome. The guest entertainment was poor, they were average acts, but what dissapointed us most was that as the acts finished at around 10.45pm the bar staff started cleaning up and expected you to leave. The bar/drinks should have been available until 12.00pm but they made you feel as you should leave early. The entertainment team tried their best, but their games etc only worked with audience participation. Unfortunately only the British were willing to join in. So all in all the entertainment went like this, kids disco, Bingo (every night) and a mediocre act every other night,
The location of the hotel was great if you were into visiting Spar shops, one on every corner and a few dotted in between for good measure. Where were the bars and swinging nightlife as promised in the brochure? Absolutely nothing to do of an evening, except a walk along the beach which was ok, clean and only a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
All in all we didn't feel that we were made welcome and able to enjoy the holiday as we had in previous years. Very poor value for money, 3*+ no, 2* maybe when feeling generous. This holiday cost us alot of money and we ended up with a poor budget hotel.
Would we go back - I don't think so, would we recommend this hotel - only to our worst enemies. Sorry if you have already booked for next year - it's not too late to cancel.
