Continental Park Hotel, Alcudia, Spain
Hotel Information
Hotel Description:
These apartments are special because... ...the stunning eight mile stretch of golden sand beach, the longest in Majorca, is just across the road. The Continental Park offers a good standard of accommodation with centrally controlled air-conditioning. However, the vast range of activities run by the Thomson Superfamily team will mean that you will hardly ever be in your room.Nearby Hotels Viewed by Other Travellers

" Having just returned from our holiday... "
Submitted By: Mr M BeesonThen there is the entertainment. Now dont get me wrong the Thomson kids club was great and my little girl really enjoyed the fun with smily kylie and co they were brilliant. As were stuart and esme the other two entertainers they really tried their best with what they had which at times was not much!! My real issue with the entertainment was it felt like groundhog day every night the evening would go like this:
8.30pm- Mini Disco
9.15pm- Bingo (EVERY NIGHT!!)
9.45pm- Present Diplomas
10.00pm- Show
This was every night there was no variation at all, the acts we saw were mostly bad but there was one magician who was really really good. Even then tho the act is finished for 10.45 latest and then that is it!!!!. You can drink and talk till 11.45 then the waiters would pack the chairs up around you!!! Making you go to your room pretty much. Come 12.15am all exterior lights on the hotel are turned off and its bedtime because the bar is shut you cant get a drink or socialise anywhere in the hotel... and this is a holiday!!??
The rooms are small but kept spotlessly clean by the very efficient maids the balcony was very high to see over and you couldnt if you sat on the chair provided. All in all the hotel looked tired and could do with a re vamp like the superfamily umbrellas outside that had superfamily covered over with gaffer tape!! But it was like i said clean.
There were good things too about the hotel:
1) its close to a big beautiful beach and resort one of the finest i have ever seen.Very good for kids shallow water and great sand.
2) There are lots of restaurants to eat in nearby!!!
3) The kids club is great
apart from that tho this hotel lacks in every area and is just not good enough to warrant spending in the region of £2000 to stay there....... very dissapointing.

Submitted By: Miss T WhellamsI have no idea why there are grumbles about the food. There was such a variety at every meal that surely there was something for everybody??? Anyone who said they had to go out to eat must be really fussy eaters, that's all I can say. It's classic spanish cuisine - what you'd get at most spanish hotels. You could choose from salads or hot food of different kinds. There were vegetables at every meal (not just deep-fried). You don't have to have chips for breakfast if you don't want to you know!!!! Yes you could have sandwiches, fruit, burgers, chips and hot dogs at the poolside if you can't be bothered to get dressed and go to lunch in the dining hall. I wish people would not write reviews about how bad the food was because it was not bad at all. It was very nice indeed. Wine, beer, fizzy drinks, slush puppies, ice-cream, were all on tap.
It is true that the rooms are small. There is a double bed and bunkbeds in most. The top bunk is very high up and although you get bed guards, my 6 year old was still too scared to sleep in it. The double bed mattress was too hard and as myself and my partner suffer with bad backs, we ended up in the bunks and my 2 daughters shared the double. Not very romantic!!!
The balcony is solid (not bars) so if you sit in the chairs all you can see is mountain tops and treetops. It's also very small. Our air-conditioning was on all the time and we could control the temperature from our room and turn it off if we so wished.
The entertainment kept us entertained. Kids loved the kid's clubs. You had to pay 3 euros per child for the evening kids party though. The shows: there was a Madonna impressionist (good), a magician (good), a guitarist (goodish), Kool and the Gang (didn't watch them though, but sounded good from our room), a reptile show (a bit rubbish, but kids enjoyed), ladies vs men competition (good - cos I was one of the ladies and we won), a kids competition (good for kids), etc. There was a show of some sort every evening, with bingo and kids mini disco. We never felt the need to venture elsewhere for entertainment. Having small children, this was enough for us and we went to bed straight afterwards (about 11pm -11.30pm). A bit noisy at night with the usual inconsiderate drunk people and noisy kids running down corridors etc. But I took my earplugs so didn't bother me much.
All in all, we all enjoyed this holiday (11 nights) and I was actually really sad to leave. I would definitely go back as long as we got a new mattress - but as that's probably not going to happen, it's unlikely we will return. This is definitely a 'family' hotel. I wouldn't recommend 'adults only' to go. Oh, and as usual when you go in peak season - not enough sun beds...

Submitted By: Mrs G RoxbyThe food was bizarre. I don't consider deep fried battered broccolli, cauliflower or sprouts either appertising or healthy. Chips were served for breakfast on the childrens selection. Although my children were abso.utely forbidden from having these at breakfast, they were constantly on offer in the snack bar where they would help themselves all day every day. By the end of the visit I was desperate for a healthy meal of meat and veg (unbattered). When there was veg, it was offered along side pasta, or something else fried. We found ourselves eating out instead to get a decent meal. The meals were often the talk of the poolside with other guests being equally dissatisfied. At the snack bar, there was a constant stream of burgers and chips which was hard to dissuade the kids from eating every day.
The bar was all inclusive and was supposed to shut at 12 midnight. However, the staff were keen to get home and were in the habit of clearing chairs and tables from around you, chasing you out and shutting the bar early. Once it was shut there was nowhere to sit in the hotel and you felt like children being ushered to bed early.
The entertainment was dismal. One of the reps explained that Thompson no longer funded the entertainment so the budget was limited. At least three of the nights were free for the hotel as they had a karaoke (a dismal night) talent show (again dismal) and a night called 'Go Fetch' where guests were used in a game to retrieve as many objects in the least time from the audience.
All in all, this has put me off going all inclusive ever again.

Submitted By: Mrs M PowerWe arrived and found the reception staff very pleasant and welcoming , the rooms are good an average size but lots and lots of storage space very clean and comfy . these were also cleaned and beds made every day of our 11 night stay ! TV in room was english with kids channel and bbc1 for adults .
Entertainment was good we seen some very good shows like "kool and the gang" tribute then "madonna" and "Brazillian dancers" and a magic show etc they were good shows at 10pm for all age groups etc . during the day the same team did a quiz and water polo and darts and pool etc so always something going on (stuart +esme) work very hard .
Food was very good nice quality , yes abit repatitive but always something for any age group , our group was abit dissapointed as near the outside area of the bar there is a grill/bbq which we thought would do burgers etc but didnt . you had to go in the restaurant for your lunch but could bring it outside . there is also an indoor snack area near the bar but ok for a sandwich or cake etc
Drinks were very good and help yourself style was a great idea . kids have option of slush puppy and ice cream anytime of day !
Our only 2 bad points are that the hotel itself closes completley at 23.55pm when drinks stop and all lights out !!! so you have no choice but to go bed or if like us lot some nights want a late drink try "cheers" bar less than 5 mins walk ! and you cannot control the air conditioning in your bedroom yourself , the hotel do it for all rooms !
Overall very good value for money and we got our money worth our group was aged 5-65 and we had a great time meeting others from milton keynes, wigan and even others from back home in Leicester , please give this hotel a try we are glad we did !!

Submitted By: Mrs C Gatenbyvery friendly staff.(english lady called Sue) overall a very clean hotel with maid service every day.
help yourself to red, white & rose wine, lager, soft drinks and water, slushes and ice creams. bar service for spirits etc. make your own sandwiches serviced in bar area 10am-11pm.
brill childrens & adults entertainers.(hard working stuart and esme) separately run kids clubs were great for my 3 and 8 year olds.
8.30pm kids disco. 9.15 bingo nightly etertainment starts at 10. which ranges from groups singing, dancing, comedian/magician (a must see).
beach not even a 5 min walk away past various spar shops which sold everything from beach balls to english grub. very clean safe shallow waters.
hotel food was great even with my fussy kids. plenty of salads and fruit 2. very good policy not allowing anyone to reserve sunloungers on a morning. so when pool opens at 9 a queue does form at doors bout 8.30 with towels at the ready!!!!
want to book up again for next year. we didnt want to leave!!!!

Submitted By: Mrs P HawesThe only drawback to our holiday was the mosquitos (nothing to do with the hotel at all). We had never been bitten by mossies before and yet we were a great attraction to them in Alcudia, we had taken sprays, wipes and plug in things and still got bitten, the only thing to do is take plenty of antihistamin creams and tablets and be prepared. In saying that my sister and partner came for a week also and they never got bitten at all, so it gets some and not others. We had a fantastic holiday mainly due to a great hotel. So go and eat, drink and be merry!!!

Submitted By: Miss H BickerThe restaurant was very nice and clean, meal times were good, but the selection of food was quite poor especially lunch time, my children like burgers and hot dogs but not for fourteen days on the trot. breakfast and your evening meals were a bit better with more variety of different foods. The bar snacks were a little poor with the same food in the snack bar pretty much all day so by yhe end of the day it looked a bit worse for wear. the snack bar consisted of bread, ham, cheese bit of lett and tom, and a couple of cakes. This was put out at 11am and left there till 11pm. There was slushes and ice-cream on offer all day which was great for the kids and you could help yourselves to beer, coke fanta, sprite, water and wine all day long which was also great.
overall the hotel was not bad but to return they need to make some improvements as you pay all that money only to have to pay all these extras to join in activities or just to have some fun. Thomson need to be careful about what they sell you as your holiday as its very misleading. If your going here have fun and say hi to the reps stuart and ezmae the entertainers who worked really hard, just make sure you take some money with you, you will need it.

Submitted By: Mrs H McLindenHowever, on arrival at the hotel it was really clean and all the staff were very helpful.
The food was really good with a selection of salad, meat, pasta or fish every day. The drinks and ice cream were of good quality and although plentiful I didn't find the kids over induldged. The rooms were a bit small, but lots of cupboard space and we only used it to sleep in as there was so much to do.
The kidzone Reps were fantastic and my kids already asking when they will see Hula Haley, Smiley Kylie and Krazy Karin again. Stuart and Esme were good too keeping the daytime and early evening entertainment going. The visiting entertainers were also very good and varied.
Having paid £2100 for this holiday it certainly wasn't cheap but I would say we more than got what we paid for and would return again to the same hotel.
So for anyone who is waiting to go this hotel - relax and have a great time - It's a good choice!

Entertainment was rubbish, and the bar staff were clearing away around you from around 23.25pm.
The rooms were very small, but at least they were clean.
If you decide to go on any trips, the pirate one is good though expensive. It cost us £300 for 2 adults 2 kids and souvenirs. Don't bother buying the DVD of the show as its rubbish.
If you are booked to go to this hotel, my advice is to take some spare cash as a precaution. If this hotel puts you off going all inclusive again, don't let it as the facilities and food on our previous hols were far superior to this and they were only 3 star. This hotel is only worthy of 1 star.
